Zombies are reanimated, mindless, decaying corpses with a hunger for human brains. They are the main antagonists of Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time, as the objective of the game is to prevent them from eating the player's brains. Zombies, like their defensive counterparts the plants, are varied in strength as well as speed, and command unique aspects which must be countered appropriately.

Speed Rates:

  • Creeper - Takes 7.5 seconds to move one square.
  • Stiff - Takes 6.75 seconds to move one square.
  • Basic - Takes 5 seconds to move one square.
  • Hungry - Takes 3.75 seconds to move one square.
  • Speedy - Takes 2.5 seconds to move one square.
  • Flighty - Takes 0.5 seconds to move one square.

Barrel Roller Zombie Barrel Roller Zombie2 Hardened 62 (52 for barrel, 10 for zombie) Hungry Destroys plants by rolling over them. Its barrel breaks releasing 2 Imp Pirate Zombies in adjacent lanes.
Imp Pirate Zombie Imp Pirate Zombie2 Average 10 Hungry Launched by Barrel Roller Zombie, Imp Cannon, and Gargantuar into your defenses.
Imp Cannon Imp Cannon2 Protected 30 Basic Shoots Imp Pirate Zombies into your defences and if the cannon isn't destroyed it will self detonate releasing several Imp Pirate Zombies.
Pirate Captain Zombie Pirate Captain Zombie2 Protected 21 Stiff Releases a Zombie Parrot that can steal your plants, otherwise not much more threat than a Conehead Zombie.
Zombie Parrot Zombie Parrot2 Solid (Should Be Protected) 20 Flighty Will steal your plants if not defeated in time.

Gargantuar Pirate

Gargantuar Pirate2 Great 175 Hungry

Takes two instant kills, crushes plants, and throws Imp Pirate Zombie.

Zombot Plank Walker Zombot Plank Walker2 Undying 1,325 Hungry The boss of Pirate Seas.

Poncho Zombie Poncho Zombie2 Solid/Hardened 12.5 or 67.5 (2.5 for poncho, 55 for metal plate, 10 for zombie) Basic Chance to wear a protective metal plate.
Chicken Wrangler Zombie Chicken Wrangler Zombie2 Average 10 Basic Summons a flock of Zombie Chickens when damaged.
Zombie Chicken Zombie Chicken2 Fragile 0.25 Flighty Summoned by Chicken Wrangler Zombie. It will rush at your plants, dealing a lot of damage. Lightning Reed is the easiest way to take them out.
Zombie Bull Zombie Bull2 Hardened 65 Stiff Charges at your plants and launches a Zombie Bull Rider into your defences, which can be blocked with Tall-nuts.
Zombie Bull Rider Zombie Bull Rider2 Average 10 Basic Same as Imp Pirate Zombie so treat as such.
Wild West Gargantuar Wild West Gargantuar2 Great 175 Hungry Takes two instant kills, crushes plants, and throws Zombie Bull Rider.

Trivia

  • It is unknown why a Cowboy Zombie's toughness is solid while the Pirate Zombie, Mummy Zombie, Future Zombie, and Basic Zombie's toughness is average according to the Almanac.
    • This may be because Cowboy Zombie wears a hat, although its health is still 10 normal damage shots.
  • It is also unknown why there is a Kung-Fu Zombie and a Monk Zombie, as they both have the same health.
  • It is also unknown why a Pharaoh Zombie's speed is Hungry when actually it is Speedy.
  • It is also unknown why Pianist Zombies taking 41 normal damage shots makes its toughness is "Hardened", Treasure Yeti taking 34 normal damage shots makes its toughness is "Dense". According to the almanac, "Hardened" is tougher than "Dense".
    • Before the 2.4.1 update, Pharaoh Zombie's toughness is "Dense" and it absorbs 74 normal damage shots.
  • It is unknown why Robo-Cone Zombie is 125 while the Disco-tron 3000 and Mecha-Football Zombie is 100 while their toughness is Machined.
  • It is also unknown why Shield Zombie's toughness is "Average" and it takes 25.5 normal damage shots to be killed (without Force Field), but "Soild" zombies take between 12 and 17 normal damage shots to be killed.
