Zom-Bats are a token zombie card in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, and a member of the Brainy and Beastly classes. They are made by Witch's Familiar, Immorticia's signature superpower, but can also be obtained as a card from Eureka, Triplication, or Cosmic Yeti, made by Portal Technician, or transformed into by Interdimensional Zombie or via Transformation Station. They cost 3 to play (only when they are Bounced, or as a card from Eureka or Triplication), and have 2/1. They have the Amphibious trait, and their ability gives the zombie hero a card every time they do damage to a plant.
They are based on bats, mammals of the order Chiroptera with their forelimbs adapted as wings.
Their name is a portmanteau of "zombie," referring to the side they are on, and "bats," the real-life animals they are based on.

Zom-Bats can essentially be seen as a Kite Flyer, but with more strength and less health. Since they are a pet zombie, they can be used with Cat Lady and Zookeeper for some synergy. Because Immorticia's superpower is a pet trick as well as Zom-Bats themselves, they can boost the pet tribe twice as long as you have Cat Lady and Zookeeper. If you get this on the first turn, and the plant hero uses a plant like Torchwood or Wall-Nut, Zom-Bats will be able to land a free strike on that plant without being destroyed. If you do obtain this in other ways like Eureka, treat this like a weaker version of Kite Flyer. While this zombie normally will not survive long due to their pitiful health, you can boost this zombie with stat-boosting abilities such as Vitamin Z and Loudmouth. Note that if they are used to damage the plant hero, they will not give a card, so it is best to play them in front of plants that don't attack.
Do not put any plant that can't fight back to block this zombie, as they will just give your opponent free cards. If the zombie hero has at least 3 brains for tricks, choose your plant wisely, as they can decide to use Vitamin Z on this, or alternatively use Rocket Science to take out a strong plant trying to destroy them. Using tricks such as Banana Bomb or Berry Blast is the best way to defeat this zombie, as the opponent won't get any cards from this zombie. Bouncing them also works, as if your opponent wants to play them again, they have to use 3 brains to do so. You can also make the plant hero take the damage as they will not draw cards unless they hurt a plant. Additionally, try to destroy them quickly so they will not able to draw cards.
AI opponents will usually use this immediately if they have it, even if you don't play any plants.
- They used to be the only token zombie in the Brainy and Beastly classes that had an ability.
- They and Witch's Familiar are also the only pet cards in the Brainy class.
- It is the only Brainy zombie with the Amphibious trait.
