Plants vs. Zombies Wiki

O hi, so I'm finally back.

It's been many years since Plants vs. Zombies came out, and I'm sure that all of you must've beaten the game at least 10 times apiece. There's not much challenge left, except to ace the Endless modes and replay Adventure over and over again. There's also achievements and the Facebook variant, but many of you agree that Plants vs. Zombies has become a bit... boring.

Not.

You see, if you replay adventure mode, Crazy Dave chooses seeds for you. Sometimes, it's a welcome change (using Kernel-pult, Spikeweed, and Wall-nut on a Pool level? No problem! Just choose Sunflower, Lily Pad, and Cob Cannon!); but occasionally, Crazy Dave chooses some of the worst plants possible (Marigold, Pumpkin, and Tall-nut on a Fog level? No problem! Give me a Cherry Bomb so I can kill Crazy Dave!). But the challenge of forming a dynamic strategy is what makes adventure mode revisited so fun!

tl;dr, Crazy Dave forces you to make strategies and defenses with a dynamic combination of plants. You might be forced to exploit Spikeweed, Threepeaters, Garlic, and other unorthodox plants to survive.

Let me take it a step further. I will become Crazy Dave. Now, buy the seventh, eighth, and ninth seed slots. I will give you your six preset plants. If you try this challenge, then you may NOT use any other plants other than the six I state. You may NOT use any of Crazy Dave's plants unless they're in my list. Any empty seed slots remaining must be filled with useless Be careful, though. I may not give you any sun-producing plants in some stages, nor any other "essential" plants. Complete the stage to win. Survive with ALL lawnmowers, pool cleaners, and roof cleaners intact to truly complete the challenge. Prosper without losing your last line of defense AND without using a rake to prove yourself the superior gamer. Can you form a winning strategy? Or will you fall victim to the upgraded hordes of zombies?

Are you ready? Good luck!

Note: This list is incomplete. It will be updated periodically.

Stage 1: Day

  • 1-1: Peashooter, Wall-nut, Puff-shroom, Sun-shroom, Tall-nut, Coffee Bean

Since you're just starting a new adventure, Crazy Dave will give you a tutorial. Then you will start the easiest level in Adventure Mode revisited. But this challenge is far from easy. Right from the start, you are denied the use of your trusty Sunflowers. Luckily you have the Sun-shroom, but it seems to be day outside and all of your mushrooms are sleeping! It's up to you to decide whether to use your mushrooms in combat or not!

  • 1-2: Sunflower, Snow Pea, Jalapeno, Torchwood, Garlic, Marigold

The key to this challenge is to abuse the Snow Pea to no end, wielding as you would a Peashooter. Use two Torchwoods back-to-back to cause splash damage and Garlic to divert zombies to lanes with heavy firepower. And why not farm money with the Marigold in the meantime?

  • 1-3: Cherry Bomb, Peashooter, Sun-shroom, Ice-shroom, Doom-shroom, Coffee Bean

Say hello to the Conehead Zombie! good luck trying to overwhelm the zombie horde with just Peashooters alone. May I suggest blowing them up? You have a TON of explosives for this round, so... maybe it won't be too hard after all?

  • 1-4: Wall-nut, Sunflower, Squash, Spikeweed, Split Pea, Garlic

Split Pea and Garlic on the same level? This shall be interesting. Of course, you can just ignore the extra cost of the Split Pea and play a regular Peashooter/Sunflower strategy. But where's the fun in that?

  • 1-6: Potato Mine, Sunflower, Wall-nut, Squash, Cactus, Kernel-pult

Should I gamble, or shouldn't I? I wish you good luck on the two conflicting strategies! You must decide whether to gamble a row's safety with Kernel-pults or plant a solid (though expensive) defense with Cacti... or both! Wield these two weapons with the utmost caution against the powerful waves of zombies, lest your brains be eaten!

  • 1-7: Snow Pea, Sunflower, Puff-shroom, Scaredy-shroom, Ice-shroom, Coffee Bean

Brr... chilly stage here! Your plant choices here will help you slow down the three huge waves of zombies, but that just increases zombie density! Without AoE plants (save the Ice-shroom), can you survive this entire stage without getting overwhelmed? Hint: The mushrooms are more useful than you think!

  • 1-8: Chomper, Sunflower, Cherry Bomb, Wall-nut, Potato Mine, Jalapeno

Any pyromaniac would LOVE this challenge. The newest zombie introduced is the Buckethead, but you should treat it like any other weak zombie. If any, the FLAG ZOMBIE is the biggest threat here. Plant Sunflowers everywhere, launch plenty of explosives, and stare in awe at the fireworks in the sky. Be careful, though; the Chomper may be a wee bit too expensive to plant consistently. Enjoy!

  • 1-9: Repeater, Sunflower, Wall-nut, Split Pea, Pumpkin, Garlic

Here it is - the final Day challenge! Wipe out three waves of ALL of the zombies you've encountered so far without your trusty Snow Pea! (I assume the Snow Pea was a necessity the first time you played, right?) Use your coalition of defensive plants to shield your pea-shooting behemoths and possibly set up a death trap! It's been a long time since you trapped a zombie between a Repeater and a Split Pea, right?

Stage 2: Night

  • 2-1: Puff-shroom, Sunflower, Cherry Bomb, Grave Buster, Garlic, Marigold

Welcome to the Night stages! Without a reliable stream of sun from the sky, you must depend on your mushrooms to survive! Armed with the excellent Puff-shroom, you must regain ground, destroy many newspapers, and... start a gold farm?

  • 2-2: Sun-shroom, Grave Buster, Scaredy-shroom, Ice-shroom, Squash, Magnet-shroom

Wait, what? No Puff-shrooms? Is it possible to win? This combination of plants has two obstacles ahead: An early shortage of Sun, and an overwhelming final wave. Good luck, and don't punch your computer!

  • 2-3: Fume-shroom, Repeater, Sun-shroom, Grave Buster, Scaredy-shroom, Gatling Pea

Let's have an easier stage. It's simple to beat, but it's also one of the few times in this challenge when you can use an upgrade plant! Nice, huh? Just survive the first 20 zombies or so to actually get a chance to use the Gatling Pea. Don't worry too much about the Screen Door Zombies, since Fume-shrooms make short work of them. Take a well-deserved break; you'll need it for the next stage.

  • 2-4: Grave Buster, Puff-shroom, Sun-shroom, Pumpkin, Starfruit, Garlic

Feel free to slaughter Crazy Dave now. Your main forms of defense are the Puff-shroom and Starfruit, which dish out very little damage and don't have a splash effect. Plus, the Screen Door Zombie is actually a huge threat. Being a stage with three waves, you will be overwhelmed easily unless you build a proper defense! Can you do it? Or will you lose your brains?

  • 2-6: Hypno-shroom, Sunflower, Repeater, Puff-shroom, Spikeweed, Spikerock

Football! It's such a savage, spellbinding sport. And the Football Zombie is surely stoked for the next Super Bowl! So how do you defeat the Football Zombie? Without your Sun-shroom and Grave Buster to help, you must scrounge together a working strategy. On the bright side, you have Hypno-shrooms!

  • 2-7: Scaredy-shroom, Wall-nut, Puff-shroom, Sun-shroom, Grave Buster, Garlic

You maybe in some trouble in this challenge. You are given two of the weakest (though cheapest) mushrooms in your arsenal. So, exactly, how are you supposed to survive three waves against the mighty Football Zombie? Have you tried using some Garlic?

  • 2-8: Ice-shroom, Puff-shroom, Sun-shroom, Fume-shroom, Garlic, Marigold

Dancing Zombies abound here, overrunning any amateur strategy with infinite minions. Unfortunately, you're forced to have an amateur strategy this time. You might survive, but you might not. Can you win? Can you win WITH a gold farm intact?

  • 2-9: Doom-shroom, Sunflower, Puff-shroom, Magnet-shroom, Marigold, Gold Magnet

It's gold farming time! Collect as much money as you can without losing your lawnmowers or brains! On the bright side, there are no Football Zombies in this stage. Get greedy and get rich quick!

Stage 3: Pool

  • 3-1: Coming Soon!

As a random thought, would you like me to post a picture for every challenge? Might help you calibrate your strategy. :)
