This page will explain how summoning works. It also lists the current seed packets and sun each player has.

How Does This Work?

(In battle) To summon a plant or a zombie, you need sun which works for both. You will also need the seed packet of the ally you want to summon. One summoned, said ally will last until the battle, and is controlled by the player who summoned it. Only one ally can be summoned at a time, but this number may increase with time. Summoning consumes a turn.

In Overworld

In overworld, allies will need to be summoned ocassionally in order to beat a puzzle (e.g. extinguish fire with a snow pea) or just to get a first strike. Again, only one ally can be summoned at a time. These last until a battle is entered, when they will last until the end.
