Strategies[]
With[]
Primeval Yeti has subpar stats for his cost, but the Evolution ability can quickly turn the tide in your favor. The boost is actually identical to Monster Mash, but on top of that, Primeval Yeti also leaves itself on board, resulting in a 6/6 zombie at no additional cost. It does see competition from Coffee Zombie and Going Viral, both of which give the Frenzy trait. However, both provide a smaller boost, with Coffee Zombie costing more while Going Viral can only be played in the tricks phase, so it isn't fully outclassed.
To make the best use of Primeval Yeti's abilities, a zombie must be reserved for Evolution, so be sure to pack some disposable ones or those that are likely to survive until turn 5. Some Hearty Zombies can make it by themselves, but you might want to consider other alternatives, or use Flag Zombie to play more earlier, reducing the chances of them being destroyed and increasing the value you get from the ability.
Each hero has their own ways of using Primeval Yeti:
Neptuna has access to various cheap amphibious zombies, most notably Swabbie, which allows her to put a powerful threat on the aquatic lane and for free. The same also applies for various Gravestones, as they have a higher chance of surviving. Primeval Yeti's boost works very well with fragile zombies used in Imp Decks that focus on swarming.
The Smash is able to take advantage of Primeval Yeti's Pet tribe and run an aggressive Pet Deck, which does greatly appreciate a full board boost due to them being usually fragile, and since he is in the Beastly class, he too is able to have an extra lane for his advantage. His access to Goat allows him to easily Evolve Primeval Yeti on turn 5, and the card can also activate Zookeeper/Cat Lady's abilities. The only major drawback is that Primeval Yeti is expensive, and Pet decks often have difficulty surviving the first few turns.
Z-Mech, with his arsenal of cheap Dancing zombies, also benefits with Primeval Yeti by giving them a good boost, which patches their low health.
Rustbolt can make extra brains to play Primeval Yeti earlier and to also fill the entire board with zombies, maximizing the value of Primeval Yeti's boost. He can even take this further by playing Parasol Zombie beforehand, which will protect some boosted Zombies from plant tricks.
Against[]
If played without Evolution, this is not particularly threatening. You can use tricks like Lawnmower, or plants with 4 or more, like Gatling Pea, to take it out. The real problem comes when it is played on another zombie.
However, Doom-Shroom can destroy all the boosted zombies fairly easily. If you don't have Doom-Shroom, then resort to tricks like Squash to take out the boosted zombies one by one.
