Plants are living organisms that belong to the Plantae kingdom. They obtain most of their energy from sunlight in a process called photosynthesis. However, not all plants absorb energy via photosynthesis. They are the protagonists of Plants vs. Zombies 2 and the player's main defense against the undead assailants. There are a grand total of 103 plants, 31 of which are premium plants and among the premium plants, 7 of them cost gems, 7 are available for a limited time, and, out of the premium plants, 3 can be obtained via Epic Quests, and one of them is only available via Zen Garden.

  • Twin Sunflower, Winter Melon, and Spikerock are no longer upgrade plants. Instead, they can now be planted like normal plants.
