Modern Day - Day 30 is the thirtieth level of Modern Day in Plants vs. Zombies 2. It requires players to prevent the zombies from trampling the flowers, which are in the sixth column, positioned in the middle. Minecart and rail are present on the lawn as well, which is placed beside the flowers (on the fifth column). When this level is finished for the first time, the player receives a money bag.

Difficulty[]

With the position of the flowers being quite close to the lawn, Newspaper Zombie and All-Star Zombie with their fast speed, Wild West Gargantuar and Gargantuar Pirate which can easily destroy the player's defenses, including Prospector Zombies trampling the flowers from the end of the lawn if not countered properly. With all of them combined plus the objective, it will make the level very difficult. However, the player can place Primal Wall-nuts, Spikeweeds, Infi-nuts or Spikerocks over the flowers, which will not count as being trampled if they walk over either of the latter, making them very helpful in this level. Note that any underground plant can stop trampling of flowers in middle tiles, so you can also use Celery Stalker. Gargantuars and All-Star Zombies can destroy these plants, so be wary (although All-Star Zombies cannot destroy Celery Stalkers).

Waves[]

The small number next to the zombie icon means that zombie will always appear in that lane, with 1 being the topmost lane and 5 being the bottommost one.

Strategies[]

Primal Wall-nut is recommended for this level because of the Gargantuars, All-Star Zombies, Newspaper Zombies and its fast recharge.

At first, a Super-Fan Imp will appear which must be killed quickly, so do not let the following Balloon Zombies bother you as much, as they do not trample flowers whilst airborne. Start planting defensive plants on or in front of the flowers such as Chard Guards, or more essentially Primal Wall-nuts, as All-Star Zombies will appear constantly, causing the player to lose the level quickly because of their fast speed.

Blover is also recommended because it can clear out Balloon Zombies, Imps, and even Prospector Zombies.

If boosts are used, it is recommended to use them on the Infi-nut, as its force field will be able to block Balloon Zombies, All-Star Zombies and Super-Fan Imps.

Strategy 1  (Contains gemium content) (Contains premium content)[]

Created by Redhonker
  • Required plants:
  • The first phase (sequence above):
    • Plant Moonflower and Dusk Lobber in second lane to kill the Super-Fan Imp (use Gold Bloom to get sun)
    • Continue to plant Moonflowers and Dusk Lobbers (do it as soon as they available).
    • Ignore the Balloon Zombie till the very end and blow it away with Blover.
    • Plant two Primal Wall-nut to block the Newspaper Zombie. Stall him and the All-Star Zombie as long as you can. Then use Grimrose to kill them both.
  • The second phase (the first two Gargantuars):
    • Plant Lava Guava in the third lane to kill the charging All-Star Zombie.
    • Plant Primal Wall-nut in fifth and first lanes. Choose the right opportunities to plant Grimrose in these lanes to kill the zombies. If you time things right (all zombies are in the fixed lanes), Prospector Zombie will be killed before they jump over, and Newspaper Zombie will be killed before they cause trouble with their speed
    • Plant Primal Wall-nut and Lava Guava in third and fourth lanes to stall the Gargantuar, plant Dusk Lobber in these lanes to attack them. They only appear in these lanes, so prepare early and you can plant in the column of the flower as well.
    • Blow away the Balloon Zombie before they drop on the left side of the flower.
  • Last phase:
    • Anticipate where the Gargantuar will appear (fifth and first lanes) and plant Primal Wall-nut early to stall them. You will not be able to stall two of them at the same time as it will take longer to recharge
    • Be prepared with the All-Star Zombie in the third lane.

  • Tips:
  1. Keep saving Plant Food for Gargantuars and Newspaper Zombies.
  2. Always plant the Primal Wall-nuts on the flowers first, as there are higher chances of Newspaper Zombies to run over them.
  3. Use Gold Bloom whenever it is ready.
  4. Keep replacing the Primal Wall-nuts, but do not neglect the other plants as well.
  5. Have fun!

Strategy 3 (no premium)[]

Created by Botor Won
  • Required plants:
  • 1st wave:
    • Plant Moonflower to get sun, then plant Primal Potato Mine on the flowers to destroy Super Fan Imp.
    • Plant more Moonflower to get sun, avoid planting Grimrose or Dusk Lobber because they are expensive, slow recharge.
  • 2st wave:
    • Continue planting more Moonflower to get sun, if you confident enough about you are having enough sun, you can plant Dusk Lobber at 2nd lane or 4th lane
    • Plant Primal Wall-nut in the 3rd lane
    • When the Balloon Zombie is approaching, plant Blover to blow away Balloon Zombie (The Moonflower need time to produce sun so you have to make the Balloon Zombie survive a time).
    • Plant Dusk Lobber.
  • 3rd wave:,
    • When the Newspaper Zombie nearly trample the flowers, plant Grimrose to drag him into ground.
    • Don't plant Primal Wall-nut in this lane because the Grimrose is still survive.
  • First flag:
    • Plant more Dusk Lobber.
    • Plant Primal Wall-nut at 1st lane and 3rd lane.
    • Plant Primal Potato Mine at 4th lane, when the next All-Star Zombie comes, it will destroy by this plant (Super Fan Imp touch this).
    • Plant more Primal Wall-nut and Dusk Lobber, you can use Grimrose to support.
    • Zombies in this wave don't approaching, so you shouldn't use Cherry Bomb, use them to kill Gargantuars.
  • After first flag, plant more Dusk Lobber, Blover, Grimrose, Primal Wall-nut, Primal Potato Mine or Cherry Bomb to kill zombies, especially Gargantuar.
  • Last flag: If you can't destroy the Gargantuar, you can click and hold to launch the Lawn Mover.
Note: Blover can be use to blow away Balloon Zombie, Prospector Zombie and Imp from Gargantuar.
Hope you success with my strategy!
Strategy 3 by Amokcrafter7364
Plants Needed: Blover, Chili Bean, Twin Sunflower, Spikerock, 2 Instakills (preferably with a 3x3 AoE or greater), Spikeweed
- You can replace Spikeweed/Spikerock with Spear-mint, which will instantly spawn a couple of Spikerocks in the front of the lawn.
Upgrades Needed: Shovel Boost (optional), Mower Launch, 7 seed slots available, Instant Recharge
Part 1: First wave
- Plant at least 2 columns of Twin Sunflowers throughout the level. This is to provide enough sun to use insta-kills and replace damaged Spikeweeds/Spikerocks.
- Kill the first Super-Fan Imp with a Chili Bean.
- Wait until the next zombie, a Baloon Zombie, reaches the second to the leftmost column. When this happens, plant a Blover.
- Start planting Spikeweeds. Prioritize planting them on the 1st and 2nd lanes.
- Plant a Chili Bean on the minecart and move it to the lane of the Newspaper Zombie.
Part 2: The 1st flag
- Continue to plant Spikeweeds on top of the flowers for the first flag. Use an insta-kill on the All-Star, and another to take out some of the Basic and Super-Fan Imp zombies. Bombegranate, Grapeshot, boosted Ultomato, and Bombard-mint are preferred.
- For the rest of the level, plant Blovers when you see a Balloon Zombie.
- Start replacing your Spikeweeds with Spikerocks. This is to protect the flowers from the Gargantuars in the coming waves, as Spikerocks can survive 3 smashes from them. Dig up Spikeweeds and plant Spikerocks on the flowers. Start in the 3rd and 4th lanes, and work your way to the others.
