Strategies

Farming

These strategies may not win every time, but they help provide the player a lot of money.

Marigolds Everywhere

Marigolds Everywhere

This strategy

Note: This strategy won't make players win, but will surely make a lot of money. You'll need: Marigold, Pumpkin, Lily Pad, Magnet-shroom (optional) and Gold Magnet (optional). This strategy will produce around $2000.

First, start planting Marigolds. Unless you make mistakes, 5000 sun will be more than enough to fill your lawn with Marigolds. Plant Marigolds. Fill up the lawn with Marigolds. Don't click the 'Start Onslaught' button first! We're not done with the preparations (just) yet! Like I said, unless you make mistakes, 5000 sun will be more than enough to fill up your lawn with Marigolds. With the spare sun, start planting Pumpkins. Plant Pumpkins in the first column from the right. Then plant Pumpkins in the second column from the right, but plant only on land, because Zombies won't attack trough water until the first wave. Then plant more Pumpkins in the third column, and again, not on water. Same reason as before. No more sun? Then, we can't continue... Nah, just joking. Then, you're ready to press 'Start Onslaught'!

Overwhelmed by all the coins? Can't collect all of them? This is where the Gold Magnet comes in! On the upper row of the water, plant a Lily Pad on number five from the left, don't plant a Marigold, and plant a Magnet-Shroom instead. No coffee beans necessary. Upgrade it into the Gold Magnet fast. Gold Magnets aren't nocturnal. They are also active during the day. You will get less defense and less money after planting a Gold Magnet, though, but it will certainly help the overwhelmed players.

Super Marigolds

BUL9 Last Stand Gold Farming Strategy

This will not win, and is merely meant to raise the player's income.

Put Lily Pads all over the pool, and place Marigolds on all the Lily Pads. On the third, fifth, and seventh columns (from the left) of rows two and four (from the top), plant Magnet-shrooms, and subsequently upgrade them to Gold Magnets. Then, place Pumpkins on the Marigolds in the right-most column, land and pool, and then place Pumpkins on the Marigolds on land.

This gold farming strategy gives out approximately $2000, and is therefore recommended for (somewhat) quick, low-paying, easy income.

Gloom-shroom and Gold farming Variation A

This Marigold farm gives around $5000 to $6000 and needs only nine seed slots.

First, plant five land columns of Marigolds, then plant two Magnet-shrooms at the sixth column above and below the pool and two Marigolds with Pumpkins above and below those. Then, plant a Magnet-shroom with a Pumpkin in front of the Marigold with a Pumpkin in the top and bottom row. Then, plant two Gloom-shrooms in front of the Magnet-shroom above and below the pool. Then, plant a Garlic in front of the Gloom-shrooms at the second and fifth row. Then plant one pool column of tall nuts at the sixth column Marigold with Pumpkin on Lily Pad behind those. You can add some more Marigolds in the pool.

Last Stand Strategy

The strategy

Be sure to save some sun to replace the Garlic and the Pumpkins. You can plant Gold Magnets if you want but be aware that it will decrease your sun budget to repair Garlic and Pumpkin and adding more marigolds.

If you upgrade the Magnet-shroom that is supposed to make zombies with metal object weaker into a Gold Magnet will worth having major difficulties. Replace the Garlic between all flags. The Pumpkins can be replaced later as it will last longer than the Garlic.

Gloom-shroom and Gold farming Variation B

Last Stand

The Gloom-shroom build for nine slots

For this one you need:

Garlic,

Marigold,

Pumpkin,

Lily Pad,

Magnet-shroom,

Gold Magnet,

Coffee Bean,

Fume-shroom and Gloom-shroom

Imitater Pumpkin (Optional)

Gloom-shrooms are chosen because they have a 3x3 square AoE attack and do a lot of damage as well. The Pumpkins are for Pole Vaulting Zombies and zombies that appear from underwater. The two Gold Magnets are enough to collect most of the coins (You may have to collect a few yourself). Note that you shouldn't use the Coffee Bean on the Magnet-shrooms, because Gold Magnets are not considered mushrooms and don't sleep during the day.

This setup earns approximately $8500 every five flags. It is, by far, the best gold farming strategy for Last Stand.

Variation with added Magnet-shrooms

Variation with added Magnet-shrooms

A really helpful variation would be replacing the two Marigolds, second from the right in the pool lanes, with Magnet-shrooms, and waking them up with Coffee Beans. As it turns out, the Buckethead Zombies , and the Football Zombies are the ones who succeed to make their way to the marigolds in top and bottom lanes. The Magnet-shrooms weaken them and prove handy. The gold generated could be a wee bit less, but it does generate about $8500 every five flags. Also, this setup leaves you with no extra sun in the beginning, which wouldn't be a problem since at the end of the first flag you  will earn some and that should be enough.

Gloom-shroom and Gold farming Variation C

Laststandgloom

Gloom-shroom variation.

There is a variation of the Gloom-shroom Build that is used by some players. It is essentially the same, except for two key points. Instead of two garlics in front of the Gloom-shrooms, there is one, and there are Pumpkins behind them (as they can be helpful). This causes the variation to have two more Marigolds, but it isn't quite as easy to manage, and there is not much overall difference in money gain. Another variation is to move the Pumpkins in the pool back one square and remove the front Marigold, which means that the setup produces slightly less money but the Pumpkins don't need to be replaced as often.

This is another gold farming plan, and it works.

You will need these plants. (requires ten slots)

Just copy the build below and you'll be OK!

Note that the Gold Magnets are placed in the center column so they can collect
coins from Zombies as well as from Marigolds. They have a range of roughly 4.

I earned around $4000 with this set-up. There are better ways to do it (like Hex Editing, but as far as a set-up that makes some money, it's alright).

Gloom-shroom and Gold farming Variation D

Another Gloom-shroom build. Well, yes, but with some tweaks. Much like whoever posted the one above the one above this I tried using the first one, and I found some faults. My version will get you a little less money, but it ensures survival.

First, you need to have eight seed slots (preferably nine). Select the Lily Pad, Garlic, Fume-shroom, Gloom-shroom, Magnet-shroom, Gold Magnet, Coffee Bean, and Marigold. If you have 9 seed slots, select the Pumpkin as well. Also, before we start planting, I just want to make this clear: rows are going down from the fence, lanes are going away from the house.

Start by planting two Garlics in each lane by the pool on the two rightmost rows. Then plant three Fume-shrooms behind those Garlics. Then, in the row behind those Fume-shrooms, plant 1 more Fume-shroom on each edge of the lawn. In the first four pool rows, plant Lily Pads. On the front four Lily Pads, plant Pumpkins if you have them. Plant Marigolds on the two front Lily Pads, and Fume-shrooms behind them. The rest of the Lily Pads should have Marigolds on them. Now, in the back of the lanes you planted your Garlics in, plant Magnet-shrooms. Don't wake them up, just plant a Gold Magnet on them.

Remember the Fume-shrooms you also planted in that lane? Well, plant Magnet-shrooms and Gold Magnets right behind them. You should now have four Gold Magnets. You can fill the remaining spaces in the first four rows with Marigolds.

Now its time to start planting Coffee Beans on the Fume-shrooms you planted. Upgrade them to Gloom-shrooms after waking up. If you have nine slots and brought the Pumpkin, use your remaining sun to plant Pumpkins on the remaining Fume-shrooms that don't have Pumpkins on them.

Gloom-shroom and Gold farming Variation E

Oh my goodness! It's the fifth Gloom-shroom build already! Now this strategy, I have no idea if I am going to guide you for a winning or not, 'cause when you try the same strategy, in each computer, even in different time trying, you get different enemies.

You need seven to ten slots:

  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Marigold
  • Lily Pad
  • Pumpkin
  • Garlic
  • Magnet-shroom (optional)
  • Gold Magnet (optional)
  • Imitater Garlic (optional)

OK, now put a Garlic in the beginning of row two and five, after that, put three Fume-shrooms behind each, upgrade them, put a Coffee Bean on, and put Pumpkins on the first Glooms. Put Marigolds behind them, as well as in row one and six, but put 1 more Marigold in those rows. Put Marigolds on Lily Pads in the pool within a limit of six columns from the house. Put Pumpkins ONLY in the third and second Marigolds from the zombie side is useful, which is use for the Dolphin Riders. If you have 8 slots, replace two Marigolds in row one and six with Magnet-shrooms, if nine slots, don't wake them up and just upgrade them, and if ten slots, use the Imitater Garlic to replace eaten Garlics.

Gloom-shroom and Gold Farming Variation F

Added by Luis Anton Imperial.

GFStrateg

The pool is destroyed!!!

Plants needed (nine plants):
  • Marigold
  • Garlic
  • Lily Pad
  • Tall-nut
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Pumpkin
  • Coffee Bean
  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom

Plant a Garlic in the eighth and ninth column in 1st and 6th rows from the left. Plant a Tall-nut in the fourth column from the right second and fifth row. Plant a Tall-nut in the last column in the pool. Plant a Gloom-shroom on the second last column in the pool. All plants have Pumpkins except Tall-nuts, Gold magnets, and Garlics. See the picture for more detailed info.

Gloom-shroom and Gold Farming Variation G

You will need 9 seed slots (10 is recommended):

  • Lily Pad
  • Pumpkin
  • Tall-nut
  • Marigold
  • Fume-shroom
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Garlic
  • Gold Magnet (If you have 10 seed slots)

First off, plant a Garlic on the 2nd and 5th rows on the first column from the right. Then put two Fume-shrooms directly behind each of them. Upgrade them into Gloom-shrooms and then use a Coffee Bean to wake them up. Plant a pumpkin on each of the Gloom-shrooms on the second column. Plant a Tall-nut on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th rows on the 3rd column. On the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th row of the fourth column, plant a Magnet-shroom and wake them up. On the pool of the fourth column, plant two lily pads, a pumpkin in each, and place the Marigolds in them. Finally place Marigolds in every spot in the lawn behind the Tall-nuts, and start the onslaught! (I'll get back to the Gold Magnets in a second).

Your lawn should look like this:

M = Marigold () = Pumpkin T = Tall-nut GS = Gloom-shroom MS = Magnet-shroom and G = Garlic

M M M M M MS T
M M M M M? MS GS (GS) G
MX M M M M (M) T
MX M M M M (M) T
M M M M M? MS GS (GS) G
M M M M M MS T

Now, getting back to the Gold Magnets. The Marigolds with the ? are where you should put your Gold Magnets. Note that if you do, you will not be able to plant the Marigolds with 'x' on them until after the first flag.

After every wave, collect the sun and replace every Garlic, Pumpkin, or Tall-nut that is on their second degrade or is gone.

This strategy will probably earn you $8000 to $9000, which is a good profit.

Gloom-shroom and Gold Farming Variation H

This is a 10 slot strategy which uses only four Gloom-shrooms but squeezes in 30 Marigolds for maximum gold farming. (8 slots if you have fast fingers and forgo the Gold Magnet for two more Marigolds.)

Screen Shot 2014-10-01 at 9.03.40 PM
  • Snow Pea
  • Lily Pad
  • Garlic
  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Gold Magnet
  • Marigold
  • Spikeweed

The Snow Peas slow down the zombies so the Spikeweed and Gloom-shrooms can do more damage. Some of the Marigolds will get eaten by the occasional Football Zombie, Dolphin Rider Zombie and surfacing Ducky Tube Zombie. When sun permits, replace Marigolds after replacing any crying Garlic. Although in later waves replacing the two Lily Pads and Marigolds in the 7th column should be weighed against keeping 100 sun on hand to replace any Garlic consumed during the wave.

Gloom-Shroom and Gold Farming Variation I

You need 10 slots for this one. Snow Pea is not really needed, but still a good idea.

  • Lily pad
  • Marigold
  • Fume-Shroom
  • Gloom-Shroom
  • Snow Pea
  • Garlic
  • Coffee Bean
  • Magnet-Shroom
  • Tall-nut
  • Pumpkin

Here is how you will put your plants.

N=Magnet-Shroom

T=Tall-nut

L=Gloom-Shroom

F=Fume-Shroom

G=Garlic

S=Snow Pea

M=Marigold

Anything with "P" before the letter means you should put a pumpkin.

Super Gold Farming

Super Gold Farming

Super Gold Farming Set-up

This strategy won't win, but it will earn you a lot of money. There are only six plants used, all 5000 Sun will be used, and the entire lawn should be filled.

The only required plants are Marigold, Lily Pad, Magnet-shroom, Gold Magnet, Tall-nut and Pumpkin. The other chosen plants are not important, as all 5000 Sun will be used.

Start by filling the entire pool with Lily Pads. Place an entire column of Tall-nuts on the right-most column, then put Pumpkins around them. Since the Pumpkins must be eaten first, the Tall-nuts should stop early Pole Vaulting Zombies from reaching the rest of the lawn.

In lanes two and five, starting from the left, place Magnet-shrooms in columns three and six. Upgrade them to Gold Magnets, then put a Pumpkin around the Gold Magnets in column six. This will allow them more time for them to collect coins. Fill the rest of the lawn with Marigolds. You should not have any Sun left to use. If Pumpkins are put around the Gold Magnets in column three, you will not have enough Sun to fill the rest of the lawn. (Use the picture above for reference.)

Since there are no attacking plants, you will not win this level. It is up to the player to decide whether to let the zombies invade the house or to end the level beforehand. This is why the amount of money earned varies from time to time. You should be able to earn at least $1000 before the zombies eat through at least one Tall-nut.

If Pumpkins are omitted from the Gold Magnets, you will fill the lawn with 250 Sun left. You can use this to use Wall-nut First Aid on at least one Tall-nut and one Pumpkin. You can also use an instant kill once a Tall-nut is eaten, saving a row for a few seconds. Imitaters are not recommended, as they will be eaten before they can transform.

Super Gold Farming Version 2

This strategy is a bit more risky than any others because it uses the least plants and no offensive plants.

Plants:

  • Marigold
  • Lily Pad
  • Magnet-Shroom
  • Gold Magnet
  • Pumpkin
  • Other Plants

What you do is just fill the screen with Marigolds then have one space free for a Gold-Magnet. Use the leftover money for Pumpkin.

Super Gold Farming Version 2 Variation

Super Gold Farming Variation

Super Gold Farming Variation

There is a variation that uses fewer Marigolds and only two Gold Magnets, but it will delay the zombies for a longer period of time. The two major similarities are that they both use all 5000 Sun, and they use exactly the same six plants (Marigold, Lily Pad, Magnet-shroom, Gold Magnet, Tall-nut and Pumpkin). The remaining plants are not important. Like in the original strategy, put Lily Pads in every space in the pool, then plant Tall-nuts in column nine. Next, instead of planting Pumpkins over your Tall-nuts, plant them over a second column of Tall-nuts in column eight. The Gold Magnets are still planted in rows two and five, but planted only in column four. The rest of the spaces will be filled with Marigolds.
LastStandAlternativeMoney

The alternative way for Super Gold Farming variation 2.

There is an alternative way for this method, which works even a bit more effectively than the basic tactics. In the eighth column, you should omit the two Tall-nuts which are on the pool rows (3 and 4). This method would work as zombies on pool rows only arrive later. Instead, move your pumpkins which would protect column 8 to column 9, so the first column of the two pool levels will last longer. Now plant 2 Marigolds in column 8, rows 3 and 4, in the space of the former tactics' Tall-nuts. With this method, you will be able to gain 200-300 more coins value than with the "basic" tactics. The magnets will usually collect the coins released by the two "new" Marigolds, but even if they wouldn't, collecting coins of two Marigolds is not a hard work. Also, with this tactics, 150 sun will remain, so you will be able to replace the first Tall-nut that falls (and even one more Lily Pad), so you can last a little bit longer, thus gaining a bit more money.

Super Gold Farming Version 2 Variation 2

There is another way to "super gold farm." This second variation also has the two same basic concepts: using Marigolds, Lily Pads, Magnet-shrooms, Gold Magnets, Tall-nuts and Pumpkins only, and all 5000 sun will again be used.

This variation is only a slight edit from version directly above. The Tall-nut/Pumpkin combo in the pool lanes of column eight will be replaced by a pair of Marigolds. Omitting these plants won't become a problem, as it takes a while before any Ducky Tubers appear. These, along with four other Marigolds, are removed to allow more sun to plant four additional Gold Magnets. The new Gold Magnets will still be in rows two and five, but they will be planted in columns two and six.
Super Gold Farming Variation 2

Super Gold Farming Variation 2

There is one main reason this second variation was created. The first variation used only two Gold Magnets, and they don't always pick up every coin. In fact, on occasion, these coins that don't get picked up may disappear instead. By adding four additional Gold Magnets, there is a less likely chance of this happening. The six Gold Magnets will now almost continuously be picking up coins, allowing more successful gold farming. You should be able to pick up about $1500 before the zombies break through.

I have something to say:

  • Don't build Marigolds and Lily Pads at the first, eighth column.
  • Use the Squash and the Imitater Squash to kill zombies.
  • You can even survive the first/second flag, based on your luck.

Laptop Zombie 14:08, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

Super Gold Farming Version 2 Variation 3

There is a way to use the strategy above and have your Gold Magnets protected. Only 2 lawn squares are changed to achieve this.

Super Gold Farming Variation 3

Super Gold Farming Version 2 Variation 3

Add a 7th plant to the list of requirements: Garlic. Plant exactly the same setup with the following change: Omit the Marigolds directly between the Tall-nuts and your rightmost Gold Magnets. Replace those with Garlic. (Use screenshot if necessary. Note the positions of the 2 Garlics circled in red.)

This specific variation is for those who are willing to allow the zombies to reach their house in order to achieve the most amount of money as possible. The amount of zombies that end up piling on the Tall-nuts, along with those that come during the final wave, should not be enough to completely eat through your Garlics, making your Gold Magnets nearly invincible (Only under rare circumstances will your Garlics be completely eaten.)

There are only 2 dangers your Gold Magnets will encounter. The first are Jack-in-the-Box Zombies, for obvious reasons. The others are Pole Vaulting Zombies, which will only be a concern if they can get past your Tall-nuts without first losing their poles.

Super Gold Farming Version 2 Variation 4

Certain versions of the game may be more likely to allow Pole Vaulting Zombies to get past your Tall-nuts and jump over your Garlics. How to fix this problem is obvious, but it requires plant rearranging.

Super Gold Farming Variation 3 Version 4

SGF 2 v4

Omit two Marigolds, one in row 2 and the other in row 5. Then follow these guidelines for both rows: Plant two Garlics adjacent to each other directly behind your Tall-nuts. Place one Marigold behind them, then another in the far back. You should have 3 blank spaces between them. Fill those spots with Gold Magnets. (Refer to this screenshot if necessary.)

There's no knowing whether or not Pole Vaulters can get past your Tall-nuts. Either it works, or you've just wasted two Garlics where you could have planted Marigolds. Either way, the only threat to your Gold Magnets now are Jack-in-the-Box Zombies. Plus, if your front-most Garlics get eaten (which is a very rare occurrence), your Gold Magnets will still be safe from being eaten.

Super Gold Farming Version 3

NOTE: I DO NOT OWN THIS STRATEGY!

Pick these plants:

And any other plant you deem necessary.

You won't win with this one, but it will make a lot of money. Fill up your entire lawn with Marigolds EXCEPT column five. In this column, plant Gold Magnets (no Coffee Bean needed). On the column nine Marigolds, plant Pumpkins. Begin the onslaught. When the zombies start to reach columns four and five, replace one of the Gold Magnets in the pool and plant a Doom-shroom. (OPTIONAL: Choose the Imitater Doom-shroom and only plant two Gold Magnets, both in the pool. With the remaining sun, plant the Imitater Doom-shroom.) After that, just try to survive as long as you can.

Simple although small Gold Farming Variation

NOTE: This will not earn you Sol Invictus.

NOTE #2: This will not let you win, but it is good for gold farming.

Plants required:

Marigold

Gold Magnet

Magnet-shroom

Coffee Bean

Doom-shroom

Lily Pad

Pumpkin

Pick any others to fill empty spots.

1. Fill the lawn and pool with Marigolds. Same with the pool. (Go straight to step three at the moment)

2. Put Pumpkins only on the first three columns on the right, but not in the pool. (Go to step four)

3. WAIT! In the bottom middle of the pool, DON'T plant a Marigold! Put a Magnet-Shroom (don't wake it up) in the empty space, and upgrade it to a Gold Magnet. (Go up to step two)

4. Sorry about moving around. If you did this correctly, you should have 250 sun left. (Also works with 200). You are now OK to "Start Onslaught".

5. While the zombies munch on your Marigolds, your Gold Magnet will collect some of the coins. You still have to collect the coins too.

6. At about the huge wave of zombies, when the zombies are three columns away from your house, dig up the Marigold above the Gold-Magnet and plant a Doom-Shroom on that Lily Pad. Wake it up.

8. Keep collecting coins until a zombie reaches the house.*

  • *If you have 50 sun left, plant another Marigold. It'll help you earn a little more money.

Free Money while repelling the undead to different lanes

First and sixth lane have two Garlics at the end and seven Marigolds before them. Then a Threepeater, a repeater, and a peashooter with a Torchwood and Tall-nut or Wall-nut in the middle four lanes (on Lily Pads in pool lanes).

M is for Marigold, six is for Gloom

First plant Garlic on the rightmost spots of rows two and four. Next, plant three Fume-shrooms behind each garlic. Upgrade them to Gloom-Shrooms and wake them up with Coffee Beans and plant Tall-Nuts on the Columns that the 3rd Gloom-Shroom is on. Behind the two Tall Nuts in the pool, place Magnet Shrooms and Gold Magnets. DO NOT USE COFFEE BEANS ON THE MAGNET-SHROOMS! They wake up when upgraded. Plant Marigolds in every other empty space behind the Tall-Nuts and Gold Magnets.

Note: This will not win Last Stand.

Gloom Farming

Plants
  • Garlic
  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Gold Magnet
  • Lily Pad
Part 1: Setup

After realizing that three Garlics are not necessary, I shortened it down to one.

Place a Garlic in lanes two and five.

Now place six awakened Gloom-shrooms behind each Garlic.

Pumpkin the Gloom-shroom behind the Garlic.

Place two Marigolds in the leftmost two columns (only on land).

In lanes one and six, Pumpkin the front Marigold.

In the pool, place two Pumpkined Marigolds in the second column.

After the first flag, put a Gold Magnet behind one of the pool Marigolds.

Part 2: Replacing

Pumpkins and Garlics will need to be replaced quickly.

If a Pumpkin or Garlic is at its final stage, wait for it to get eaten, then replace it. However, if two are at their final stage, replace one without waiting.

Part 3: Collecting

For the first flag, you need to collect everything. But you still might need to collect some when you have a Gold Magnet. But if you have 175 sun to spare, planting another Gold Magnet in the pool will not be bad.

How much will this earn you?

Another strategy, which uses only eight plant slots, uses two Cattails in the back of the pool, four Tall-nuts, two on land and two in the pool, Torchwoods behind those, one column of Repeaters, one column of Gatling Peas, and two more Repeaters in the lanes above and below the pool. Then, put two Garlic in the top and bottom lanes, and replace them in between flags whenever necessary. Also, for extra damage, put Spikeweeds in front of your land Tall-Nuts.

Pea-domonium Strategy

For this strategy, ues the following:

Start out by building the first three columns from the left with nothing but Repeaters (remember to place Lily Pads on the pool before planting the Repeaters). Then, leave the fourth column empty, and place Torchwoods in the fifth column (place Lily Pads in the pool when planting Torchwoods in the pool). Then, all you have to do is plant a Tangle Kelp and an Imitating Tangle Kelp directly to the right of the two Torchwoods in the pool. You are now ready to start the onslaught. Having three Repeaters plus a Torchwood in every lane is like having twelve peas firing at once. It will kill every zombie. After the first flag, replace used Tangle Kelps and Imitating Tangle Kelps, and now plant a Lily Pad in the fourth column of the pool (which was empty), followed by a Cattail. This brings extra damage. Repeat this step after the second flag as well. On the third flag, replace Tangle Kelps and plant four Marigolds (three if you want a Gold Magnet) in the fourth column land spots. This increases the cash flow. After the fourth flag, place a Gold Magnet (if you have one) in the empty spot in the fourth column, and this time put two Tangle Kelps in front of each Torchwood instead of one (extra pool defense). Then, when the fifth wave come barging through, you could use a Cherry Bomb (although your defense should take everybody down). There you have it. Not the most cash-building defense, but it does win the game.

Here is what your lawn should look like after the fourth wave:

Gatling Pea Build another strategy

Strategy that uses eight seeds requires the Repeater, Gatling Pea, Torchwood, Lily Pad, Cattail, Marigold, Magnet-shroom and Gold Magnet. Plant Repeaters in the back row including the pool and upgrade them to Gatling Peas. Plant Torchwoods in front of the Gatling Peas. Plant five Marigolds on both sides right in front of the Torchwoods forming a rectangle with a Magnet-shroom in the top center of the rectangle. Upgrade the Magnet-shroom to a Gold Magnet, but don't wake it up. Finally, plant some Lily Pads and upgrade them to Cattails forming a square.

There is also a gatling pea strategy that uses six slots all you need is Gatling Peas, Repeaters, Lily Pads, Garlic, Torchwood and Spikeweeds if you want the zombies killed quickly or marigolds if you want more money. What you do is plant three Garlic in the top and bottom rows and in the four middle rows put two Gatling Peas (in each row) each with a Torchwood in front of it (Make sure you replace the Garlic after every wave).

Alternative Gatling Pea Build

This other Gatling Pea strategy is safer, with more money. You'll need 9 slots nine though. The seeds are the Repeater, Torchwood, Gatling Pea, Lily Pad, Marigold, Magnet-shroom, Gold Magnet, Spikeweed and Garlic.

First plant two Repeaters on the first row, turn them into Gatling Peas and put a Torchwood in front of them. Do the same for row five. Then put three Lily pads on the third row. Then plant two Repeaters and a Torchwood, and turn the Repeaters into Gatling Peas. On the second and sixth row, plant two Garlics in front. On the fourth row, plant two Lily pads in front, leave a space behind them and put another Lily pad. This is because some surprise attacks may turn up behind those Lily pads. Now put Garlics on the three remaining Lily pads. Plant Lily pads behind the last Garlic on the fourth row. Now plant Marigolds, but leave the fifth space for a Magnet-Shroom. Turn it into a Golden Magnet. Plant Marigolds on the second and sixth rows. Replace the Garlics once they are going to cry. Make sure you leave at least 50 sun after each flag. And when you have enough sun, plant Spikeweeds on the first and fifth rows. Plant at least three Spikeweeds on those rows. This is a good Gatling Pea build and I always use this. Give credit to YouTube! Hurray!

Cattail's Melons

This nice strategy won't help with money, but has a most likely win for the mini-game. This requires nine slots, and choose these plants.

Catapult Build

I have not try the strategy yet, as my first strategy failed and I've fixed the problem and now I got a new strategy.

This strategy requires the following plants:

  • Melon-pult
  • Kernel-pult
  • Cabbage-pult
  • Tall-nut
  • Lily Pad
  • Marigold
  • Pumpkin (optional)

Put the Melon-pults in column five, Kernel-pults in column six, Cabbage-pults in column seven and Tall-nuts in column eight. You still got money, and don't try to put the Pumpkin yet. Put the Marigolds in the back columns, sure with Lily Pads as support. Then Start Onslaught, and you should only put Pumpkins if your Tall-nuts are in the third form. By 58.187.24.41.

Icy Melon Strategy

PlantsVsZombies 2011-09-25 22-56-29-95

Choose the Melon-pult, Winter Melon, Coffee Bean, Lily Pad, Fume Shroom, Cattail, Squash, Tangle Kelp, and a random instant kill plant. Fill the first column with Winter Melons, all of them. In the water part, plant four Cattails. Then plant Melon-pults in the second column's remaining spaces. When you already plant three Melon-pults, there will be not enough sun. Start onslaught and get the bonus sun. Plant another Melon-pult in the space where it should be. Total is six Winter Melons, four Cattails, and four Melon-pults. For emergencies like Football Zombies and Dolphin Rider Zombies, use the Squash and the Tangle Kelp. Don't let them eat any of your plants. After you collect more sun, plant two Winter Melons in two of the Melon-pults. That will do good. At the third flag's end, you will have enough sun to buy two Fume-shrooms and two Coffee Beans. ( needs about 300 sun ) So plant them in the lanes without upgraded Melon-pults. After you do all these steps, no zombie can survive the Last Stand mini-game. This strategy is confirmed successful. -Joyfullday

In fact, research proves that Fume-shrooms are not needed and you don't need to upgrade any Melon-pults on the second row. And this can kill the Zombie Yeti easily, before it even turns around. Heck, Dolphin Riders barely manage to go six squares without being obliterated. Success is inevitable, even without two more Winter Melons and the Fume-shrooms. Shield Zombies are crushed quickly.

CatFirePeas

I know the game's old and people created all kind of strategies already, but I'm new and find this game funny. This's my take in Last Stand mini-games.

  • About this strategy:

Spends strongest weapon in only four focused lanes, leave the rest as low as possible (my case is nothing in unfocused lanes except Garlic). Because sun is fixed limitation and you should bring out the strongest firepower you can in very beginning (5000 from beginning and you will only get +250/flags. There's five flags).

Plants vs Zombies Last Stand (a effective strategy)14:10

Plants vs Zombies Last Stand (a effective strategy)

Four Lanes firepower strategy

- So I go with Cattail and Gatling Pea which is very suitable for this stage. Peas have got strong firepower and fast speed attach, Cats have got intelligent or speed attach (it always attach the lane that contains nearest zombies, plus kill almost zombies walk into lanes have no weapon support, one and six).

- Gatling Pea requires Torchwood for full power. Buy two first one for two ground lanes (other lanes we will take care later when finished some flags and save enough sun).

- Garlic will redirect almost 95% zombies to the focused lane, so the empty lanes will be safe - plus save money for these lanes from beginning, Garlic is so cheap only 25/unit). Note: there's damage affects Garlic, so after one to two flags it may get destroyed, so its reason why I put at least two Garlic in each unfocused lane. There's Pole Vaulting Zombie, so if you use only one Garlic, it's risky). Sometime in last level zombies still manage to pass over Garlic, but don't worry Cat will kill them, because they're slow and weak once they jump).

- Tall-nut is very self explanation here. It protects the pool (because Cat is weak, it's speedy but it firepower is quite weak for large amount of zombies appear in the same time). Place some more if next flag you have sun for it.

Strongest or fastest zombie would walk farthest five rows, no more. That's it.

Potato Mine Strategy

Sorry I couldn't get the words bolded I don't know how, But here's my strategy. Take potato mine and Tangle Kelp. Then choose whatever you want because PM and TK are all you need. At the lawn, fill all the grass spaces with PM, and pool spaces with TK. This strategy works depending on what version you have (Works on DSi) And every round re-plant the SPUDOW'D Potato Mines with new ones, also with the Tangle Kelp.

Hope you like this strategy! By ~Dorogorono.

I when I discovered this strategy, I found two things. First, due to zombie density, it will not pass through more than one flag, but it does not succeed 100% of the time. Second, Imitater versions of either plant are not recommended unless you plant additional Potato Mines or Tangle Kelps during the wave and you have a huge gap between the zombies within the lane you're planting in. Reasonable gaps vary between
2 Plant Build
the types of zombies in that lane, but is most commonly about four and five squares between zombies. By Zombieman1350.

Spikey Build

This Strategy is very interesting. It uses only spike plants, except for pumpkins (Lily Pad, Cattail, Spikeweed, Spikerock, Cactus).

First, plant a column (columns go up and down, lanes go left and right) of Cactus on the leftmost column. Pumpkin them. Then plant Cattails in the pool rows of Columns two, three, four and five. Pumpkin the ones on columns four and five. Plant Spikerocks in column two, lanes two, five and six. Plant a Spikeweed in column two, lane one. The reason to this is that you won't have enough sun to upgrade the fourth Spikeweed, and based on my research, (only on Last Stand) pool rows have the least zombies, lanes two and five have the most, lane six and one have the second most, but lane one seems like it has just a little less concentration than lane six.

After the first flag, upgrade the Spikeweed into a Spikerock. Replace Pumpkins when necessary (preferable that you have Wall-nut First-Aid before using this strategy, I beat it with it, but I don't know if it is going to be too tricky without it), but you don't have to worry about it after the first flag, as most of the Pumpkins are probably pretty much untouched. Adding Spikeweed in column three is okay (not enough sun to upgrade them), but you might have trouble with the Pumpkins, unless you are lucky enough to not get a high concentration of Footballs. You can replace the Cactus with Peashooters, and it will save enough sun to upgrade all the Spikeweeds in the beginning, but hey, this is supposed to be an exclusive Spike-Shooting build. Also it will not be that easy to pop balloons.

An decent replacement is to replace the column five Cattails with Magnet-shrooms. This also ensures that you will be able to have all Spikeweed upgraded for the first flag. It will greatly decrease the damage, but since there might be a high Football concentration on later flags, it can help keep your Pumpkins in better shape. And they're far back enough to have a much higher probability in stealing the Football Helmets of the faster and tougher Football Zombies than steal Buckets or Screen Door.

The few reasons you will lose are if there is to many Pole-Vaulters for you to handle before they jump the Cactus, the Football concentration is so high they make it past your defense, or digger zombies come. Generally Diggers will ruin almost every strategy, and there is too limited sun to recover the damage done by them. Restart as soon as you see the Digger Zombies on the selection screen. Pole-Vaulters are actually more threatening than Footballs because numerous Footballs will be constantly taking Spikerock damage while munching on the Pumpkins, but the Pole-Vaulters just jump the Pumpkined Cactus while only taking two or four Spikerock damage.

This is an okay strategy, and is my favorite because it only uses Spike plants, and spike plants are limited only to Cactus, Spikeweed, Spikerock, and Cattail.

Popcorn Party Build

As stated. there is plenty of sun for six Cob Cannons.

This is another way to do this.

Pick the Cob Cannon (with Kernel-pult), Lily Pad, Tall-nut, Pumpkin (if you have it Imitater Pumpkin).

Afterward, choose cheap instant kills like the Potato Mine and Tangle Kelp.

In the very back of the four grass lanes, place two Kernel-pults on each lane in the very back and upgrade them to Cob Cannons (four Cob Cannons).

Do the same to the pool, but plant Lily Pads first then the Kernel-pults then Cobs Cannons (six Cob Cannon).

Plant Tall-nuts in front of the Cob Cannons. You'll require to place two Lily Pads in front of the pool Cob Cannons.

You can't plant them all, but using the sun for clearing flag one to buy the missing Tall-nut(s) and plant Pumpkins on the Tall-nuts with the rest of the sun.

The main concern is the Ladder Zombies, which can give zombies time to eat through the cobs and make you lose the game from their ladders. when you see this deploy a cob cannon missile on the Tall-nuts.

Let Jack-in-the-Box Zombies explode, they won't get close enough to ever destroy your Cobs and Tall-nuts. If they do get close, then nuke them with a cob.

I've tested it and it worked, the only concern was Ladder zombies as I said.

Cobs And Pea setup

You will need:

First put your Cob Cannons on the back of the pool lanes. Put four Peashooters on each side of the pool. Plant Cattails in front of the Cob Cannons. Next you put Melon-pults on each lane. But Cabbage-pults anywhere and you shoot be ready to go. Use the Cob Cannons for emergencies like Football Zombies and Dolphin Rider Zombies.

Dozen Cattail Build

Warning: This strategy requires a cheat or hacking program. Do not attempt if one is not present.

You will only need five plants: Lily Pad, Cattail, Cherry Bomb, Wall-nut and Tall-nut.

The first thing you need to do is hack the game in order to plant Cattails on land. Make sure you have the game in a window so you can quickly and easily go between the game and the hack program (I can give you a brief summary of what to do. Refer to the Hacking Guide for more in-depth instructions).

Plant a Wall-nut on any point of the lawn. Run a First Scan of 3. Dig up the Wall-nut and plant a Cherry Bomb. Switch out of the game before it explodes and run a Next Scan of 2. You should get a single address. Double-click it to send it to the bottom pane. Double-click the value (2) and change it to 16. The Cattail seed packet should light up. Make sure you make the cheat Active or you will need to repeat the process. (If you end up with more than 1 address, change them all to 16 until the Cattail lights. Delete the remaining addresses so you don't get confused with them.)
Cattail Build

Dozen Cattail Build

When you go back to the game, the Cherry Bomb will expand, but not detonate. This means the hack is working properly. Plant a Cattail on top of it. Continue to plant Cherry Bombs and Cattails until you have four above the pool and four below. Only have one Cherry Bomb on the ground at a time, or the second one will explode, wasting sun. Fill in the rest of the lawn according to the diagram. You should have 150 sun left over. You will need to delete the hacked address at this point, especially if you want to use the Cherry Bomb during the wave.

You will notice that the Cattails planted in the pool will not be perfectly aligned with where the game is programmed to put them. This is perfectly normal with this hack and will not affect the game (an example of this glitch is circled in red).

Very Simple Strategy

You need:

  • Repeater
  • Torchwood
  • Lily Pad
  • Potato mine (optional, but recommended)
  • Tangle Kelp (optional, but recommended)
  • whatever you want, but make sure it's cheap.

Three rows of Repeaters use up 3750 sun. You will have 1250 sun left. Add a row of Torchwood for another 1100 sun, leaving you with 150 sun. I recommend adding a row of potato mines and tangle kelp. You can do without the row of tangle kelp and potato mines, but it comes in handy if there are too many tough zombies at once. For example: two Football Zombies or Dolphin Rider Zombies in the same lane. Use sun from each flag to restore your row of Potato Mines and Tangle Kelp, as well as repair anything that gets eaten. If you choose Pumpkins, you can maybe add some if none of your Tangle Kelp or Potato Mines are used.

Garlic Build

Disclaimer: This strategy will not win, and is merely used for the amusement of the player.
Garlic Build

The only two plants used for this build are the Lily Pad and Garlic. Simply fill the entire lawn and pool with Lily Pads and Garlic. After all spaces have been filled, the player should have about 1850 Sun left. The whole idea behind this strategy is to watch the zombies continuously change lanes as well as watching them look disgusted and make the "bleck" sound.

It should be noted that the Garlics planted in the first few columns may be completely eaten rather quickly. It is not required to replace them, as the build is used for amusement and not level completion. It should also be noted that a single zombie make take several bites of the same pair of Garlics due to the case that he will be constantly changing lanes, and should be able to bypass each pair within a matter of seconds.

There are two ways to make this build more enjoyable. First, you can add in the Imitater Garlic to the build and make a design using both. (The picture below shows Garlic and Imitater Garlic planted so that the rows and columns alternate between both kinds, creating diagonal lines). The second would be to watch the first zombie and count how many times he changes lanes before reaching the house.

B.T. is for bad taste and G is for gloom

A way to get Sol Invictus

You should pick the following:

PlantsVsZombies 2011-09-24 20-01-40-79

one garlic for each inner lanes and a wall-nut for the outer-lanes

  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Garlic
  • Coffee Bean
  • Lily Pad
  • Tall-nut

As the achievement states, you must stay at 2,000 Sun. Do NOT plant any other plant or you never get enough Sun. You only need a Tall-nut for each lane. Plant the three Gloom-shrooms and put in the Garlic and Pumpkin and keep on getting more sun! This may also work if you cheat!

Choose these plants:

  • Starfruit
  • Garlic
  • Lily Pad
  • Tall-nut
  • Pumpkin
  • Fume Shroom
  • Magnet Shroom
  • Spikeweed
  • Coffee Bean

In the pool lane, plant two Lily Pads in the last column in the left. Plant two Tall-nuts (not Pumpkin protected) on the Lily Pads. On row one and six plant one Fume-shroom on each lane Pumpkin protected. Then plant three Spikeweeds on column two, three and four on the left. On lane two and five on columns one and two on the right plant two Garlics on each row. Columns three and four on lane two and five need two Starfruit each. In the middle of rows two and five plant a Magnet-shroom. On the rest of lane two and five plant the rest of the Starfruit. You should have 1500 sun left. Put this plan into action!

Plants vs. Zombies Last Stand strategy

By Joshua, trust me, it works! I just used it and I won!

Plants needed:

  • Peashooter
  • Repeater
  • Torchwood
  • Gatling Pea
  • Lily Pad
  • Any Plant

Start by planting two Repeaters, one Peashooter, and one Torchwood in each row. The Repeater farthest to the left of each row should be upgraded to a Gatling Pea if possible. After each flag is completed 250 sun will be rewarded. Use this money to upgrade the leftmost Repeaters to Gatling Peas. In the water, use eight Lily Pads, four in each row, with four Repeaters, two in each row, one Peashooter in each row, and one Torchwood in each row. Now you’re ready. Make sure to buy new Gatling Peas after each wave. Start the onslaught. At the first wave the basic zombies appear: zombie, Conehead zombie, Buckethead zombie, Ducky Tube zombie, and Football zombie. Pole Vaulting Zombies will appear from time to time too. You should easily survive the first wave. In the second and third waves, Dolphin Rider Zombies show up and attempt to get over your Torchwoods, and they will succeed if there are too many other zombies in the pool drawing your fire. They will not get to your closest plant before killed, though. Screen Door zombies are the last to the party and can deflect a reasonable number of peas before finished off. Other than that, just sit back and watch the fourth and fifth waves of zombies get third-degree burns from the incoming flaming peas. Finally, tap the trophy to complete the level (PS: if your defenses are being overwhelmed, try using the Tall-nut).

Corn on the Cob

I (Milesprower2) made this Strategy and posted it in the Plants vs. Zombies Level Strategy Wiki before I joined Wikia.

This Strategy uses Cob Cannons to kill the Zombies while Garlics divert them away from your Cob Cannons. Dolphin Riders are stopped to buy you more time. This strategy requires a lot of skill, as you need to use the Corn Cobs effectively. This can be used as target practice for Survival: Endless strategies with lots of Cob Cannons.

Plants

  • Kernel-pult
  • Cob Cannon
  • Garlic
  • Lily Pad
  • Tall-nut
  • Instant Kills (optional)
  • Least Seed Slots: six

You place three Cob Cannons in the top row and three in the bottom and two Garlics in front of each group of Cob Cannons. You place two Tall-nuts (one in each pool row) at the far left to deal with Dolphin Rider Zombies, although you don't have to, it just makes it easier. A lot easier.

This is one of many Cob Cannon strategies, and as far as I know, there is NOT another strategy identical to this one on the Wiki.

Flaming Fury

I (Milesprower2) made this Strategy and posted it in the Plants vs. Zombies Level Strategy Wiki before I joined Wikia.

This is my Fire Gatling Strategy for Last Stand. It is so powerful that Magnet-shrooms are not required, and it deals with most zombies easily.

Plants

  • Repeater
  • Gatling Pea
  • Torchwood
  • Tall-nut
  • Lily Pad
  • Garlic
  • Instant Kills (optional)
  • Least Seed Slots: six

Plant two Garlics in the top row and two in the bottom row, then plant two Gatling Peas in every row except the Garlic Rows. Place a Torchwood in front of each pair of Gatling Peas and then a Tall-nut in front of that. Replace Garlics and Tall-nuts when necessary and use any instant-kills you chose to deal with the only real threats: Football Zombies and Screen Door Zombies. Use the Instant-kills ONLY in an emergency.

An alternative is to sacrifice a Gatling Pea in each Pool row for a Repeater and put Magnet-shrooms behind the Garlics, which is more effective, but uses eight seed slots.

A Simple but Defensive Strategy

This strategy was made by Hesham Kapina.

In order to do this strategy you need the following plants

  • Cattail
  • Lily Pad
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Fume-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Repeater
  • Gatling Pea
  • Pumpkin

First off you need to plant the Fume-shrooms and upgrade them to Gloom-shrooms and protect them with Pumpkins.

Then wake them up, After this add Lily Pads up to six or eight and upgrade them to Cattails.

Add Repeaters and Gatling Peas in the first lanes except the pool.

Then start the onslaught.

After each flag replace some destroyed Pumpkins with new ones, and optionally add more defenses.

At the beginning it shall be wise to plant the Gatling Pea, Repeater and the Gloom-shrooms and Fume-shrooms before the Cattail as you may possibly add three Cattails and may be unable to buy more defensive plants.

After you followed this, You shall get only four cattails, But do not worry as you can add more later and later.

This might not work 100% but if you keep healing injured plants you might even win the Mini-Game without noticing.

Another Money Farming Strategy

Take Gloom-shroom, Fume-shroom, Coffee Bean, Lily Pad, Pumpkin, Marigold, Tall-nut, and optionally Magnet-shroom and Gold Magnet.

Set it up like this:

M M M M T . ... . .

M M M M G G (G) g g

M M M M T . ... . .

M Marigold, G Gloom-shroom, T Tall-nut, g Garlic

Make it symmetrical of the other side. You should win and get plenty of cash.

Repeater of Money Strategy

You will need these plants: Lily Pad, Marigold, Repeater, Torchwood.

You will probably want to defend with: Tall-nut, Pumpkin.

You may also want to use: Magnet-shroom, Coffee Bean, Gold Magnet.

You should be able to figure out where the plants go.

Nameless Strategy

Start off by planting three Cob Cannons in the top row, and three in the bottom row with to Garlics in front in both rows. Simply add two Tall-nuts in the Pool. You need to aim the Cobs at groups of Zombies, and replace Garlics (or Tall-nuts) when necessary, and you can place Tall-nuts on land if you want. Jack-in-the-Box Zombies can pose a threat if they aren't killed quickly, and Dolphin Rider Zobies are annoying as well, but this strategy isn't too hard with a bit of practice. Here is a picture of the top (or bottom) row:

C-C=Cob Cannon. G=Garlic.

TDP's Strategy

Get Lily Pads, Repeaters, Gatling Peas, Tall-nuts, Torchwood, Kernel-pult or Peashooter. Fill the rest of your slots with instant kills.

In the back row, plant Repeaters and turn them into Gatling Peas. In the next row, plant either Peashooters or Kernel-pults depending on what you chose earlier. In the next row, plant Torchwood. Use whatever sun you have left to plant Tall-nuts, but save some for instant-kills. As the mini-game goes on, keep planting Tall-nuts until you have two rows. If you have an emergency, use instant-kills.

Fire war strategy

You need at least seven seed slots. Choose the following plants: Kernel-pult, Repeater, Gatling Pea, Lily Pad, Torchwood, Tall-nut, Spikeweed, and Cherry Bomb (just in case).

Your lawn should look like this before you start the waves and you should have 75 sun:

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW LP

KP GP TW

KP GP TW

KP = Kernel-pult, GP = Gatling Pea, TW = Torchwood, TN = Tall-nut, LP = Lily Pad.

Before you start the second wave make your lawn look like this using the key above and you still will have 75 sun:

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW

Before you start the third wave your lawn should look like this and you should have 25 sun:

KP GP TW TN SW

KP GP TW TN SW

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

SW = Spikeweed

Before you start the fourth wave your lawn should look like this and you should have 75 sun:

KP GP TW TN SW

KP GP TW TN SW

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN

KP GP TW TN SW

KP GP TW TN SW

Your lawn defense is complete. Just replace Tall-nuts and use Cherry Bombs to get rid of ladders.

Multi-lanetastic strategy

This strategy only uses multi-laners.

I made this and Fire war (RIGHT ABOVE THIS ONE!) so that's why it's so long. If you are reading out loud, TAKE THE DEEPEST BRETH EVER!

Chose these plants:

Threepeater

Starfruit

Fume-shroom

Gloom-shroom

Coffee Bean

Torchwood

Tall-nut

Lily Pad

Garlic

Before you start the 1st wave your lawn will look like this and you will have 0 sun:

S TW TN

TH TH GS S S S GS G G

TW TN

TW TN

TH TH GS S S S GS G G

S TW TN

S = Starfruit GS = Gloom-shroom TW = Torchwood TN = Tall-nut G = Garlic

Your defense is complete, until the third wave, only replace front Garlics.

The Gloomwalk 2 strategy

First take these plants-

This will definitely win Pool's Closed achievement.

Plant a Garlic on the front side, Lane 2 and 5. Then put the Gloom-shroom behind the Garlic except for row 1(Not garlic rows)and then put a Pumpkin for the Gloom-shroom behind the Garlic and your defense should look this-

The Setup

- Gl Gl Gl Gl Gl Gl (Gl) G

- - - - - - - - -
- Gl Gl Gl Gl Gl Gl (Gl) Gl

Three-Pea-Takedown

You need:

Set it out like this:

M = Marigold

T = Torchwood

TP = Threepeater

GM = Gold Magnet

_ = Lily Pad

P = Pumpkin

TN = Tall-Nut

Note: Magnet-shrooms existed before Gold Magnets.

Arouteous Fawful's Regular Garden Variety

Warning! This strategy has been tested on the DS version only. Success is not guaranteed.

Required Plants:

  • Peashooter
  • Repeater
  • Gatling Pea
  • Torchwood
  • Tall-nut (Wall-nut also works but it is highly risky)
  • Lily pad
  • Anything else to fill up the remaining slots

Strategy

Step 0: Place down 6 Lily pads in the first, second and third Pool column.

Step 1: Fill the left-most column with Repeaters and upgrade them to Gatling Peas.

Step 2: Place a full column of Torchwoods third column from the left.

Step 3: Fill the second column from the left with Repeaters until you only have 100 sun left, place a Peashooter in the final empty space.

Step 4: Start the onslaught.

Step 5: Assuming everything goes right, you should receive 250 sun after beating every flag. Shovel up the Peashooter and replace it with a Repeater. You should have 50 sun in reserve.

Step 6: Continue the onslaught.

Step 7: Place down two Lily pads in the fourth column from the left and place Tall-Nuts on them (this is to protect against Dolphin Rider Zombies).

Step 8: Continue the onslaught.

Step 9: Place down two Tall-nuts in the same column, adjacent to the previous ones, this time outside the pool.

Step 10: Continue the onslaught.

Final Step: Place down two Tall-nuts to cover up the last remaining holes in the barrier they make up. Then start the final wave.

Ending Step: Collect the spoils of Victory. (Assuming everything went right)

Flaming Magnet

This is a variation of Flaming Gold Farming that does away with the money making aspect and focuses on beating the level.

Plants Needed:

  • Tall-nut
  • Lily Pad
  • Repeater
  • Gatling Pea
  • Torchwood
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Coffee Bean

If you have more slots, get the Cherry Bomb, Tangle Kelp, and Squash.

Start by planting Repeaters along the back row and upgrading them to Gatling Peas. Then plant a row of Torchwoods right next to the Gatling Peas. Then plant a row of Tall nuts in the 4th row. Finally, plant Magnet-shrooms in the 3rd row in the 2nd and 4th lanes(the lanes closest to the pool) and wake them up with Coffee Beans. At the end of each wave, you should have enough sun to add and wake up at least one Magnet-shroom, giving you a full row of them by the time the last wave rolls around. If you picked the Cherry Bomb at seed selection, you can move the Tall-nuts one row forward and have an empty space where you can use a Bomb to dislodge a ladder if need be.

birdpool's deadly gold farm

please note that this is an alteration of prem sinha's "2-lane build"

this arrangement does 2 things: first, it is a gold farm. second, it is effective.

you will need 10 slots for this because you will need ALL of these plants:

  • wall-nut
  • potato mine
  • fume-shroom
  • lily pad
  • magnet-shroom
  • coffee bean
  • garlic
  • marigold
  • gloom-shroom
  • gold magnet
Variation A pvz

this is what it should look like, but with wall-nuts on the open lily pads

it should look like this picture. i averaged $4,850 on this arrangement. there should be two more wall-nuts on the open lily pads.

Video of Last Stand Gold Farming (skip 1:45 to skip the building).

A strategy to finish the game despite Gold Farming. Recommended for players with the 10-seed slot though it's possible with nine slots with the Tall-nut or Pumpkin but not both.

  • Lily Pad
  • Marigold
  • Gold Magnet
  • Coffee Bean
  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Garlic
  • Tall-nut
  • Pumpkin

Be sure to keep replacing the Pumpkins and Garlics when they get damaged and make sure the Gloom-shrooms are Pumpkined. The Tall-nuts should have absolutely no problem withstanding the pool zombies.

Plant lily pads in the first three columns of the pool, then plant your repeaters down the whole first column. Replace them with gatling peas. Torchwoods go right in front of them, then tall-nuts. Yay! You're ready to go! You'll still have 350 sun after planting, though I suggest you don't use them just yet. Replace your tall-nuts if they start crying, though I doubt you will have to, since I played this way many times, and they rarely got damaged. I normally play this way, but you can try out the others on this page too. Have fun!

Warfare

Warfare is an original war-themed Last Stand strategy, consisting of Gatling Peas, Repeaters, Peashooters, Torchwood, and Potato Mines (with Lily Pads, of course). It is fairly simple to set up, provides quite a lot of money earned from killing zombies, and is easy to manage. You should also get these 3 extras for emergencies: Potato Mine, Wall-nut, and Tangle Kelp. The numbers represent your next priorities after setting up the various Peashooters and Torchwood. It would also be good to replace the regular Peashooter with a Repeater after second Flag.

Five Plants Build

4plants (russian hacked version)

Four plants strategy (used Russian hacked version)

You need here ONLY five plants - Lily Pad, Repeater, Gatling Pea, Torchwood, and Wall-nut, then choose any others.

Put six Repeaters in the first column, upgrade them to six Gatling Peas, then put six Torchwoods in the third column, put Wall-nuts in front of them, and put five Repeaters in the second (leave one Lily Pad alone). After finishing 1st flag put Repeater there. After that, nobody will survive (4+2)x2=12 peas at once! It also would be a good idea to upgrade the Repeaters in the pool due to the Dolphin Rider Zombies and the Ducky Tube Zombies that come from the bottom of the pool when you reach the flag stage (wait until you get 500 sun because will be able to upgrade them both at once). You not be able to upgrade every Repeater in the second column because you will not have enough sun to do so.

While the zombies will normally have a hard time reaching your plants, there will be certain fast zombies (mostly the Football Zombies and Dolphin Rider Zombies) that will be behind enough other zombies that they'll take only minimal damage and be able to eat your Torchwoods rather quickly, so cheap instant kills (such as a Squash) or Wall-nuts are recommended (Tangle Kelps for Dolphin Rider Zombies), but not required (try not to use Potato Mines because they require time to prepare themselves). If Wall-nuts are used. watch out for Ladder Zombies. If a ladder is placed, both explosives and digging up and replacing Wall-nuts will remove it.

Note: Due to its success rate, this strategy is recommended to be used to complete Last Stand the first time and earn the minigame trophy.

Melony-Nut/Tall-Winter Strategy

Pick the Lily Pad, Melon-pult, Winter Melon and Tall-nut. I also recommend you to get the Pumpkin (as backup for the Tall-nut), Instants and Explosives (I use the Cherry Bomb, Jalapeno and Squash), and the Cattail (just in case all else fails). Plant Melon-pults down the first column, replace them with Winter Melons, and plant Tall-nuts in the third column. And of course, pool plants go on top of lily pads. Replace Tall-nuts when needed, and after a few flags, plant another column of Winter Melons between the other plants, if you wish to. This strategy also earns the Melon-y Lane Achievement, and is one of the best I have ever used.

Gatling Pea and Threepeater Build

Another strategy which only uses five to seven plant slots, plant a column of Repeaters at the back of the lawn and pool, upgrade the to Gatling Peas, then plant four Threepeaters, one above the pool, one below the pool, and two on the pool. Then plant a column of Torchwoods. After a few waves, plant more Repeaters above and below the Threepeaters on land. The other two slots are for, you should use Potato Mines and Tangle Kelp but you can pick others. Winter Melon Build A Third strategy is to use about eight to ten seed slots (one to two for instants, if possible) and use up one Column of Winter Melons, and use about two to three (usually two) pool columns of Cattails, and one more column of Tall-nuts, This should do well, and instants aren't really needed, but if they are needed, go for usually Jalapeno, due to getting about 250 Sun from the last zombie killed, and due to the lane clearing unlike other instants.

Garlic, Gloom-shroom and Tall-nut Strategy

Get the Lily Pad, Coffee Bean, Fume-shroom, Gloom-shroom, Garlic, Pumpkin, and Tall-nut. It is best if you also pick a few explosives, like Jalapeno, Squash, and Cherry Bomb. In rows two and five, plant two garlics at the very right of each. Awaken six gloom-shrooms behind them, and pumpkin the right-most one in both of the lanes. Plant tall-nuts at the back of rows one, three, four, and six, with lily pads beneath the pool ones. This will leave you 400 sun, which should be used for replacing garlics and other plants. Use explosives when needed, and kill jack-in-the-boxers as quickly as possible, as they can explode your plants. This strategy attacks all zombies at once, as the gloom-shrooms will hurt above and below. Thanks for viewing, and good-bye for now.

War of flames

You will need:

Repeater

Gatling Pea

Torchwood

Tall-nut

Pumpkin (optional)

Jalapeno/Cherry Bomb/Spikeweed (optional)

Lily Pad

Eight slots or ten slots for Pumpkin and Spikeweed, Cherry Bomb or Jalapeno.

Put Repeaters to the side Lawn Mowers would be, then put Torchwoods in front of them and put Gatling Peas on Repeaters and in front of the Torchwoods put Tall-nuts. After every flag put Pumpkins on the Tall-nuts, but if you got Spikeweed then put then in front of the Tall-nuts when you have sun to do that.

Flaming Peas:Rapid Fire

Plants you will need:

On the first column from the left, plant Repeaters, but only on land, not in the pool, then upgrade them into Gatling Peas. Then in the pool of the same column, plant Lily Pads, then put Melon-pults on them, then upgrade them into Winter Melons. To the right of the Gatling Peas, plant Threepeaters, then to the right of that, Torchwood. If possible, try to plant Gatling Peas next to the Winter Melons. This strategy is possible to win.

Last Stand Without Gold Farming

You need eight seed slots.

These are eight plants you need.

Gold Farm and Battling

Plants:

Instructions:

1.First, plant two rows of marigolds at the back.

2.Next, plant two rows of starfruits on the third and fourth row. Put a pumpkin on the two starfruits at the pool on the right.

3.Then, plant two cattails next to the starfruits with pumpkins. Put a pumpkin on the cattails.

4.Then, put two magnet-shrooms.

What it looks like(in the end)

This strategy works well. Although, it gets annoying, spending tons of sun replacing garlics.

You can also put some Marigolds behind the Magnet-Shrooms, or just forget about the Magnets and just go for Marigolds.

Flaming Gatling Peas Strategy

For this Stragety, add the following plants:

  • Repeater
  • Gatling Pea
  • Torchwood
  • Tall-nut
  • Pumpkin
  • Lily Pad
  • Potato Mine
  • Cherry Bomb (optional)

First, fill all the first column on the left with Repeater (add Lily Pad on the water to hold the Repeaters). Then Upgrade the Repeaters into Gatling Peas. After that plant Tall-nuts on the fifth column (put Lily Pad on the water to support), then add Pumpkins on the Tall-nuts.Then add the Torchwoods near all the Gatling Peas (Use Lily Pads) then put the Potato Mine at the third to fourth columns (no Lily Pads) then your finish. I have tried this and it worked. The Potato Mine is for the Ladder Zombies and you can make it easier by using Cherry Bombs.

Spikeweed and Gatling Pea Build

This strategy doesn't make much gold, but is sure to win. Put two Garlics on the top row and the bottom row. Place Spikeweed on the second and the fifth row right up two the last two columns. Plant Lily Pads on the last three columns and place a Gatling Pea on the first column (except the rows with Garlic). Then plant Torchwoods in front of the Gatling Peas. Last plant Tall-nuts in front of the Torchwoods in the pool. Spend the Sun on the Tall-nuts.

No aquatic Plants Build

I have a better strategy to use.

  1. Plant seven Gloom-shrooms in the second and fifth lane.
  2. Plant two Garlics in the same lanes as you put the Gloom-shrooms, since the Pole Vaulting Zombies will jump to the mushrooms to eat them.

Hot 'n Cold

You will need these:

possible formation. Wall-nuts should be a better alternative for Tall-nuts.

PlantsVsZombies 2011-09-25 22-30-39-00

possible Hot n' Cold Formation.

(Strategy not confirmed yet) Plant a Threepeater in the first row, then plant Torchwoods and at last plant 2x6 row of Snow peas then put a wall of Tall-Nuts covered in Pumpkins If the Zombies are approaching to the third lane,(Where the 1st Snow pea is) plant a Doom Shroom and wake it up If you are lucky some plants may still stand.

Add comments or a proof that the strategy is confirmed as a fail or not.

Hot'n Cold 2

Note:not by the author of the original Hot'n Cold, by Snowttail. Thought it deserved this section :)

Choose Repeater, Gatling Pea, Threepeater, Snow Pea, Torchwood and Lily Pad.

In lanes one and six, plant Gatling pea, Snow pea then Repeater. In lanes two and five plant Gatling Pea, Threepeater then Torchwood. In lanes three and four plant Gatling Pea, Snow pea and then a blank Lily Pad. After the first flag, do nothing. But if, in the second flag either the pool zombies are getting a little too close for comfort or if there are a lot of them, plant a Repeater in that row. After that, plant a Repeater in the other pool lane. Then, start building more Gatling Peas. In lanes one and six you should be able to upgrade both repeaters. In the fifth flag a Football Zombie *might* get to one Gatling Pea but rest assured it will not have time to finish. Then just pick up your reward and get some more money.

Cob Cannon Build

A simple strategy is to pick the Kernel-pult, the Tall-nut, the Cob Cannon, the Lily Pad, and random other plants (these just allow you to fill up your seed tray; it doesn't matter what they are).

Place a wall of Tall-nuts in the fourth row from the right (in other words, place six Tall-nuts down, all in the same column such that each one has three squares between it and the edge of the lawn, where the zombies spawn).
Last Stand Cob Cannon build

Here's an alternative.

Then, plant a pair of kernel-pults to the left of the Tall-nuts, and plant a Cob Cannon on top of them; repeat until you can't plant any more, and don't plant in the water (you should be able to plant six Cob Cannons with no sun left). Use Cob Cannon rotations to take out the zombies; wait for zombies to get to your Tall-nuts; then, when enough amass, fire a Cob Cannon at them. It's best to fire at the two squares that are on the second row from the right, and on the inn

er land lanes; this allows two Cob Cannon rounds to kill all the zombies that are coming towards the Tall-nuts or eating the Tall-nuts, barring Pole-Vaulting Zombies and Dolphin Rider Zombies that jumped at them already. Don't waste rounds; if your timing is good, you'd be able to keep up a relatively constant stream of fire. The best way to spend sun gained is to repair damaged Tall-nuts; however, it's best to not repair any Tall-nuts that are not tearing. But there is another strategy:

You need Cob Cannon (and Kernel-Pult of course), Cattail (and Lily Pad of course), Tangle Kelp and Tall Nut. This is the possible setup:

Gloom-shroom plan

Another strategy involve only four plants (preferably six).

  • Garlic
  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Lily Pad(optional)
  • Magnet-shroom(optional)

Put two Garlics at the front of row two and five. Then put seven Gloom-shrooms each row after them. Put another Gloom-shroom at the back of row one and six. You've got 100 suns. After finish first flag, put two Lily Pads at the back of the Pool, put Magnet-shroom on them, and wake 1 of them up. You've got only 25 suns left, so go for another flag and wake the second Magnet-shroom up. Contact me on my talk page if you lost with this strategy.

By Laptop Zombie.

Mushroom and Pumpkin build

For an All-Mushroom build, You will need Coffee Bean, Lily Pad, Ice-shroom, Doom-shroom, Fume-shroom, Gloom-shroom, Pumpkin (because we will need it) and Magnet-shroom. At the first row, plant Ice-shrooms for the land part, as for the pool part, place two Lily pads and two Gloom-shrooms, for the fifth row, plant two Magnet-shrooms, for the sixth row, add two more Magnet-shrooms and place two Gloom-shrooms near the pool, finish the seventh row with more Gloom-shrooms, place some Pumpkins to cover the Gloom-shrooms, awaken the Magnet-shrooms and Gloom-shrooms with the Coffee Beans, why don't we waken the Ice-shrooms and Doom-shrooms?, they're for emergencies! Replace the almost eaten Pumpkins and you will surely do great.

Deathwalks

Choose the Coffee Bean, Fume-shroom, Gloom-shroom, Garlic, Lily Pad, Tall-nut, Spikeweed, Spikerock and Kernel-pult, Magnet-shroom or Cattail. If you have ten slots you can use the winter melon as well. In lanes two and five, use two garlic in the seventh and eighth columns, behind them three gloom-shrooms. In the pool place Tall-nuts behind the gloom shroom in the fourth column to the right. Then place three spikerocks in column one and six with Tall-nuts at column four. Then place anything behind to fill the land spaces, but place Magnet-shrooms between Gloom-shrooms.

Two-lane Build

The game can be won* by planting in only two lanes. Take no aquatics nor instants (unless you want to). Plant two Garlics in the columns nearest to the zombies' side on rows two and five. Cover the ground behind them with Gloom-shrooms. You're done!
Last Stand Strategy

Two-lane Build

The zombies will have a nice walk in the rows one, three, four and six. If zombies come in rows two and five, they will be sent to the other rows, of course after clashing with a Garlic.

*This is not a Gold Farming Strategy - Prem Sinha

One way to make this more effective is to add in Wall-nuts, Spikeweeds, and Spikerocks. Football Zombies are rather strong and may end up reaching the house, therefore losing the game. Putting Wall-nuts in lanes one and six all the way in the back will give you extra time to kill them (Pole Vaulting Zombies are not strong enough to be able to make it to the Wall-nuts). Placing Spikeweeds or Spikerocks directly in front of the Wall-nuts is effective, but they can also be planted anywhere else within the lanes. Dolphin Riding Zombies are not strong enough or fast enough to make it to the house.

Super Gloomers

Choose the following:

Plant like the picture below:

Super Gloomers

DS version

Plant Ice-shrooms in the two squares behind the Gloom-shrooms. Note that you can use Wall-nut or Tall-nut and the Cherry Bomb is a slot filler. Also, when you hear the music from the Jack-in-the-Box Zombie, wake the Ice-shroom immediately, as if it explodes, it can destroys up to three of your Gloom-shrooms. This strategy can sometimes kill a Football Zombie before it has even touch the defensive plants in the first column. The remaining sun will be saved for Garlics and Ice-shrooms.

Two-Lane Build Variation 2

My first Last Stand Strategy was the Two Lane Build but it was this variation.

This strategy wins A LOT. Start by picking these plants:

  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Garlic
  • Lily Pad
  • Hypno-shroom

First, start Planting two Garlics on rows two and five, columns eight and nine. Then, Plant Gloom-shrooms on rows two and five, columns two, three, four, five, six and seven. Plant two Lily Pads on column one. Plant Hypno-shrooms on column one. Click or touch Start Onslaught and you're good to go! Any zombie managing to get to the end will get hypnotized by the Hypno-shroom. Note that Potato Mines can be an alternative for Hypno-shrooms. By Sun-Shroom2003.

Gloom Walk

You will need Spikeweed, Spikerock, Gloom-shroom,Fume-shroom, Coffee Bean, Lily Pad, Tall-nut and Garlic. Plant and awake seven Gloom-shrooms in the closest lane to the pool on the second and fifth lane put two garlics and on the sides put Spikeweeds (upgrade at your own risk), but still at the end of the pool lane put two Lily pads and two Tall-nuts.

Melon Gloom Build

This build is very successful and wins almost always. It only requires nine slots, but the Doom-shroom may come in handy.

Choose the Lily Pad, Coffee Bean, Garlic, Fume-shroom, Gloom-shroom, Pumpkin, Tall-nut, Melon-pult, and Magnet-shroom.

Put three Gloom-shrooms right next to the pool (two squares for the gap, on both sides) and plant a pumpkin on the first one. Put a Garlic in front of it.

Then, leave a one square gap and on the other land lanes another Gloom-shroom (with a garlic in the gap). Behind that, put one Magnet-shroom (both sides).

In the pool, put two Tall-nuts (next to each other) with a one-square gap between it and the first three Gloom-shrooms. Behind that (directly) put a Doom-shroom (behind BOTH. Do NOT wake them up unless in a dire situation). At the end of the lanes right next to the pool, put a Melon-pult in a Pumpkin. I'd put a picture, but I can't make an account right now.

Melon-pult, Starfruit and Gloom-shroom Build

Plants needed:

You start by putting one Garlic on the second and fifth rows, after that you should put three Gloom-shrooms and put a Pumpkin on the Gloom-shroom nearest to the Garlic. After you put Gloom-shrooms put three Starfruits behind them and four Starfruits on the back most pool lanes protected by two Wall-nuts, so the Gloom-shroom and Starfruit part is done. Then you put a Melon-pult on the first and sixth rows at the back most portion with a Wall-nut two squares in front of them. After the first wave put more Melon-pults in front of the ones you first planted. After the second wave you put more Starfruits behind the ones you first planted and remember to replace Garlics.

Winter Melon, Cabbage-pult and Cattail build

You will need:

  • Winter Melon
  • Melon-pult
  • Cabbage-pult
  • Lily Pad
  • Cattail

Fill up any remaining slots with instants. This should show you my instant priority:

  1. Cherry Bomb
  2. Jalepeno
  3. Squash
  4. Tangle Kelp
  5. Potato Mine

First, fill the back column with Winter Melons.

Next, fill the next column with Cabbage-pults.

Then, put six Lily Pads on the pool, in front of the Cabbage-pults, three on each row.

Finally, upgrade five into Cattails.

After the first flag, upgrade the other Lily Pad into a Cattail.

Over time, add another column of Cabbage-pults (LAND ONLY).

Replace eaten Cattails as soon as possible.

Have fun winning!

Triple Frozen Melon Strategy

This strategy might fail due to multiple ladder zombies, but that is pretty rare, so just relax. You can, however, use jalapenos or cherry bombs to deal with them, but they are optional.

Six to ten seed slots

You will need:

  • Melon-pults
  • Winter Melons
  • Lily Pads
  • Garlics
  • Wall-nuts
  • Spikeweed
  • Cherry Bomb Or Jalapeno (optional)
  • Squash (optional)
  • Tangle Kelp (optional)
  • Potato Mines (optional)

Place two Garlics on each of the land lanes closest to the right of the pool. Then plant three Melon-pults in every column without a pair of Garlics relatively far down. Then upgrade one in each row into a Winter Melon. After that, place some Wall-nuts in front of the Melon-pults and Winter Melons. You'll notice that you have used exactly all of your sun.

After beating the first flag, set up Spikeweeds in front of the land Wall-nuts.Then you can set up Squashes, potato mines and Tangle Kelp as you wish. The Potato Mines should only be used for stalling when an onslaught is activated. If prepped before the onslaught is continued, wait for them to arm before continuing the onslaught.

Note: This strategy may fail because Jack-in-the-Box Zombies detonated near the Wall-Nuts.

Have fun!

Gloom-shroom and Melon

I never yet use this strategy, so say you win or not after try this strategy.

PlantsVsZombies 2011-09-24 20-25-13-90

two garlics for the Inner should be enough to keep it safe

Choose this plant:

  • Lily Pad
  • Garlic
  • Fume-shroom
  • Gloom-shroom
  • Coffee Bean
  • Melon-pult
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Tall-nut
  • Winter Melon (optional)

Plant two Garlics on front row two and five. Plant two Gloom Shrooms behind them. Plant Melon-pult on row one, three, four and six. Plant Tall-nut on column five; row one, three, four, and six. Plant Magnet-shroom behind Gloom-shroom and behind Tall-nut on water. Plant more Melon-pult after the first flag.

Rocking the spike slowly

Start by putting Garlic in the end of the first and sixth lanes two Garlic.

Then put Snow Peas on the first square in lanes two and five. One Snow Pea.

Then in the pool put Gatling Peas and Torchwood in lanes three and four. One Gatling Pea and Torchwood, one Torchwood in the beginning then after the first flag put the second Torchwood in.

Then put seven Spikerock in lanes two and five in squares three to nine keep square two open until the second flag, then put one Spikeweed in square two in lanes two and five, keep refreshing Garlics and your good to go.

Tall-nut Build

This is a very simple strategy to make. Get one column of Gatling Peas in the back, then get a column of Torchwoods, and then a column of Tall-nuts. As you get more Sun, put Spikerock in the front.

It's called the Tall-nut build because the Tall-nuts are just placed close enough to your house so that no ladders get on them, and far enough to let enough defenses behind them. The only zombie to possibly make it to the Tall-nuts are Football Zombies.

Tall-nut and Squash Build

In this strategy, you place one row of Gatling Peas in the back row (with Lily Pads), one row of Torchwoods (with Lily Pads), one row of Tall-Nuts (with Lily Pads) and one row of Squashes (with Lily Pads), one in front of the other. After each flag, replace the lost Squashes and Pumpkin the Tall-nuts. You should hold long enough to complete the mini-game.

P.S. Watch out for Ladder Zombies, they could ruin your whole defense with a ladder over a Tall-nut.

Winter Melon and Cattail Strategy

Note that you will need 3 upgrade plants (Cattail, Imitater and Winter Melon) but this strategy will pull you through. Pick Melon-Pult, Winter Melon, Lily Pad, Cattail, Tall-nut, Pumpkin and fill the remaining slots with instants (I suggest Squash, Jalapeno, and you can imitate either). This strategy is very simple. Plant a column of Winter Melons at the back, then two side-by-side cattails, and a few spaces front you should plant a tall-nut on each lane. You can also plant a pumpkin in front of each tall-nut. This strategy is very sun costly but effective. If you see potentially hazardous zombies (such as the jack-in-a-box zombie) plant a squash in front of them. The Imitater version can also be used. If the zombies manage to eat a tall-nut and pumpkin, squash them, although you can leave it to the cattails and winter melons since that sometimes will happen at the end.

Cheapest Build Possible (Challenge)

Any of these gets Sol Invictus achievement, but it is more difficult to attain.

2025 Sun

As the title says, this is the strategy that uses minimal sun usage. Care to challenge me? As you can see in this build, I still have 2025 sun in my arsenal. And there's already that bag of coin, which tells you that this round is done. And also, I only used six seed slots.

Cheapest build
I tried using Kidlat020's (or whoever posted this) strategy, and it worked almost perfectly. I was using a variant, with two extra Gloom-shrooms in the back and two Cattails at the very back of the pool. Everything worked perfectly until the fourth or fifth flag where one of the Football Zombies managed to chew through one of the upper corner Gloom-shrooms. But other than that, it worked perfectly. -Rootbeer128

3150 Sun

Pvzeco

I tried using my own build and, look, I still have 3150 sun. It took me a couple of different experiments to get this build, and I eventually used a tweaked version of the Gloom-shroom gold-farming build. The only thing you have to replace using this build is the Garlic and Wall-nuts (one of my walnuts is missing on its Lily Pad), and by using two of the cheaper Wall-nut instead of pumpkings, tall nut, or something else you save some sun. And as you can see, the money bag is in the pic which means it actually works. The only thing that is inferior to Kidlat020's build is that I used two more seed slots (though I could've used only one more. I put down an imitator garlic on accident) -Thesphinx3

3300 Sun

WOOT
My build is a slight variation of Thephinx3's (as you can see on the right) my idea was that frozen peas would do all the work that the Wall-nuts, and they did. It got a little sketchy towards the end but nothing ever go to the frozen peas and I only had to replace my Tall-nuts
Mostepic
once. - T1allen

3600 Sun

It took a lot of refining, but I did manage to find a build that would win and leave you with 3600 sun left (as shown on the right). I learned that the use of two Garlics wasn't necessary because, as soon as the pole vaulters jumped the first they were slowed down so much that the Gloom-shrooms took them out before they could take a bite. But if you are going to do that, you have to replace eaten garlic quick. What's more, I did a few experiments and saw that zombies eating a plant two squares away would still get hit by the Gloom-shrooms. So, by pushing my Wall-nuts and Tall-nuts back, I reduced their getting eaten by the weaker zombies and only had to replace 1 walnut! Finally, I realized that I only really needed the Magnet-shrooms for the Football Zombies because the Gloom-shrooms could take out Buckethead Zombies. So, by pushing the magnets back two, they were more likely to steal the faster Football Zombies' helmets than buckets, screen doors, or ladders. And I had two extra seed packets (didn't use the imitater garlic this time). -Thesphinx3

You could get to more than 3600 by using instants, and Tall-nuts.

3925 Sun!

Ok, after a much longer wait between my previous successive tries, and with a lot more thinking, I finally managed to do what I had almost believed impossible.

IMG 1637

A nerve racking build which can suffer from the slightest mistake, but with great potential

If you look at the screenshot (and, yes, this time I got the record on my iPod hence the different setup), you'll notice that there are many similarities between my previous build and this one. Gloom-shrooms are in the same place, garlic with a two square lead of Gloom-shrooms (minus the eaten one on the second row), walnuts in same place. However, there are a couple vital differences which allow for the 325 sun difference: first is the Magnet-shrooms. Previously, I said that magnets grabbing buckets and screen doors is highly annoying and potentially disastrous, as the Gloom-shrooms can kill those zombies, but the magnets are needed for the football zombies. Putting the magnets back as far as possible is the only way to guarantee that the magnets will only grab the football helmets. There is a slight drawback to this, however, and that is that each Football Zombie will get some bites into each Wall-nut. If you are extremely unlucky, this can force you to replace the walnuts and end up 50 sun less than what I got, but I managed to go through without needed such replacement. The second and most major change is the complete lack of lily pads and Tall-nuts. In fact, there is a complete lack of anything in the pool at all. This is because of a key discovery I found: the only reason why Tall-nuts are needed at all are for the dolphin riding zombies. The Tall-nuts plus Lily Pads take a big bite into sun (two sets of each equals 300 sun), so I tried experiments into ways to reduce this. It was through this process that I realized that, depending on the zombie spawns which, sadly, are slightly randomized, I quite often went through all five waves with as few as only three dolphin riders. So, rather than pay 100 sun a piece to stop three zombies, I used the 25 sun Tangle Kelp in the very back two pool squares. This saves a lot of sun, hence leading to the final amount of 3925 sun left over after a successful round.

Now, I would like to point out a few things. When it came to my previous builds I never even realized that people would try them out, and thanks to that non-user's comment, I realized I should point out the weaknesses in this build so you know what to look for: this build isn't fool proof, and there isn't a guaranteed 3925 sun finish, or even a guarantee that you'll finish at all. However I did manage to figure out what things will lead to you needing to start over, regardless of how well you built the setup: first of all, there is the dreaded Jack-in-the-Box Zombie. If those things blow up even one Gloom-shroom, you're pretty much dead. Sadly, their explosions are completely randomized but I more often don't have that problem with this build than when I do. Secondly, when the zombies come out of the water when a huge wave starts, there is a slight possibility that a bucket headed zombie will pop up at the maximum distance at which any zombie can appear out of the water. If this happens, and if your Magnet-shrooms don't steal the bucket in a timely manner (which is another risk of the new Magnet-shroom placement), then the Buckethead Zombie could survive hence making you use a Tangle Kelp (which, albeit, is only 25 sun). Once again, this doesn't happen most of the time. Finally, if you are unlucky and get the majority of the Football Zombies on one end, then they might eat the walnut either forcing you to either waste some sun or lose. The only other thing you need to be cautious of is eaten Garlic. I recommend only replacing an eaten Garlic if a Conehead Zombie, Buckethead Zombie, Football Zombie, or Jack-in-the-Box Zombie come since the gloomshrooms will handle anything else. So, yes, this build is tricky, but that doesn't change the fact that it so far is the most cost effective. I personally challenge anyone and everyone to try to beat this, not because of my ego but because I am genuinely curious to see if a 4000 sun left over build is even possible.

4100 Sun!!

Last Stand - a very simple 4 Gloom Strategy05:01

Last Stand - a very simple 4 Gloom Strategy

The probability of getting more than 4000 sun left after the whole mini-game depends on how often Dolphin riders and Football Zombie appears and I had been testing this strategy for quite some time now and the highest I was able to get was 4100 sun left.

  • Four Glooms with Coffee Bean= 1,200 sun
  • Two Galic = 100 sun

With 3700 sun left at the start of the round it's already a good start because you are only 300 sun away from the 4000 sun mark.

I normally place Wall-nuts only if there are Football Zombies and two Lily Pads are usually enough to defend the pool and if you're lucky dolphins won't even appear and that saves you around 50 sun. if on good scenarios you only spend 50 sun per round for Wall-nuts then this will give you 150 sun gain per round (250 obtained from last zombie ) that is if you somehow use one Wall-nut per round AND you're so unlucky that dolphins appear on both pool lanes. Garlic is usually replaced once every round as average after the round which costs 200 sun.

  • If you get 150 sun / round (average net sun gain w/o excluding spent for garlic) *Four = 600 sun
  • 200 sun spent on Garlics (average) -200

which means you get a 400 sun gain on most situations where two Dolphin Rider Zombies appear on every end of round (not counting the possibility of two dolphins to appear on every pool lane). If we include the 50 sun spend on the last round at most for the pool if two Dolphins appear on every pool lane then that's 50 sun and perhaps you used an extra Wall-nut then that's another 50 sun spent.

This strategy has an average of 4,000 to 4,175 sun left every round.

Doom Shroom Only Strategy

This strategy uses only Doom-shrooms, Lily Pad and Coffee Bean which means this can be placed here as a Mushroom only strategy.

Although the strategy itself takes a bit of luck and a lot of time. It is definitely worth giving a try. This strategy has a very low probability of success but is definitely worth the try.
This takes a lot of time because I literally waited for the craters to vanish just for me to be able to begin the next round.

I dedicate this to everyone who wishes to see such strategy being used.

I hope this helps you in creating more strategies for the Mini Game Last Stand. Thank you.

Mega Popcorn

By planting only cob cannons, I can actually complete the level (It works like Buttered Popcorn except you get 3-4 extra Cob Cannons to replace the buttering effect, there is no Gargantuar, and the Cobs are planted on the four land tiles closest to your house; it means that only Kernel Pult+Cob Cannon is necessary, Lily Pad is not even necessary)Calm1234

About Mega Popcorn

Calm1234, your strategy gets a nine! I admit, the deducted point was more or less my fault, but it's fair as to complete it with this strategy. I was very surprised by the effectiveness of Cob Cannon. I blew up all zombies in the area when one got to the third column, as that destroyed all. Sometimes I had to waste a Cob on a fast zombie, but I still won nine times out of ten. I finished mostly with no Cob deaths and two Kernel-pults deaths. So eight Cob Cannons and two Kernel-pults at the end, four Kernel-pults if it wasn't for that pesky Jack-in-the-Box Zombie.

Poolless Party

This form requires Gloom-shroom, Fume-shroom, Coffee Bean, Threepeater, Starfruit, Garlic, Pumpkin, and Melon-pult. (If more inventory slots are available, throw in Imitater Pumpkin, Magnet-shroom, and Gold Magnet). Plant it as seen in the picture here:

Comp Gloom Chain

During the times you get more sun of course, replace Pumpkins and Garlics, and if none need repaired, simply add Fume-shrooms in the top and bottom rows. This strategy have been tested by CompliensCreator00 and resulted in successful five waves, but remember to replace Garlics and Pumpkins if necessary, as when eaten, there is a higher risk that you will lose.
