Genetic Experiment is a galactic super-rare zombie card in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, and a member of the Hearty class. He costs 1 to play, and has 2/1. He does not have any traits, and his ability gives him +1/+1 at the start of the Zombie Tricks phase if there is a zombie on either of the lanes adjacent to him.

This zombie is really useful on turn 2 and later as he can get a small boost when there is a zombie adjacent to him. To keep his ability longer, using Armored zombies like Conehead or Buckethead, or shielded zombies like Trash Can Zombie can most likely activate his ability each turn, similar to Pea Pod. However, due to the fact this zombie starts out with very low health, it is recommended to use health-boosting cards like Camel Crossing to make him survive longer and get stronger over time. Escape through Time can also be useful as you can protect this zombie for a turn when a strong plant is about to destroy him.
As a benefit, this zombie works well with Rustbolt with his science synergy to increase his strength with Zombot Drone Engineer, make him do bonus attacks with Gadget Scientist, or transform Interdimensional Zombie.
This zombie can turn out dangerous when he is adjacent to any other zombies as he can get a +1/+1 each turn. To prevent him from activating his ability, you can aim at destroying zombies that are next to him. But if this zombie is played in the early rounds, Berry Blast or Whack-a-Zombie can destroy him easily. If this zombie goes out of control, instant kill tricks like Shamrocket or Squash is your best solution. You can also Bounce this zombie to remove his boosts completely or use Transmogrify to remove his boosts and turn him to a potentially weaker zombie. However, it is best to avoid Transmogrify if he is not boosted since he already costs 1 brain.
It also helps to move zombies away from Genetic Experiment. A Gravitree played on a lane far away will attract the zombie to it, making it harder for zombies to be played near Genetic Experiment.
- While Galactic Gardens was in development, he originally had the Armored 1 trait.
- He was also originally named "Regenerating Zombie."
