The Spike line (地刺系; pinyin: dì cì xì) is a Class A Tenacious
plant line in Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars.
The line consists of Spikeweed (地刺; pinyin: dì cì), Spikerock (钢地刺; pinyin: gāng dì cì), and Diamond Spikeweed (钻石地刺; pinyin: zuànshí de cì). They all specialize in lowering enemy defense and attack by releasing spikes from underground.
Origins[]
Tiers one and two of the Spike line, Spikeweed and Spikerock respectively, are based on the two plants with the same name and appearance from Plants vs. Zombies 2.
Tier three, Diamond Spikeweed, is based on both aforementioned plants in addition to diamonds. Its old design even incorporates the one used as currency. Its current design may possibly be based on the chandelier tree (Pandanus candelabrum), also known as the diamond plant, a species of screw palm found in tropical Africa, notably Liberia, that only grows on kimberlite outcroppings, making it a potentially useful indicator for diamond prospecting.
